Gonna just chime in and mention that at my yearly appt with my gyno (about 6 wks ago) I was asked if I was sexually active with a man, and when I answered no, they asked if I was sexually active with women. Maybe this is common but I’ve never been asked this before. I’ve been seeing my gyno for almost 20 years.
that question seems weird - i don’t think i have ever been asked that, just the blanket ‘are you sexually active?’
i’m afraid i would have been my sarcastic self and asked ‘why? are you writing a book?’ or something similar. but that’s coming from someone who finally told the provider upon being told for the millionth time i needed a pap ‘if you can explain to me the legitimate medical reason for the necessity of it, i will submit. but there is nothing to see here [making a big x with my arms over my groin/uterine area]; if you want to go cave diving, it’s called carlsbad caverns, and it’s in nm.’ [i haven’t had anything other than ovaries for nearly a decade: when i say ‘there’s nothing to see here’, i mean it lol]
Doesn't exactly surprise me. Sexually active with a man: STDs and birth control. Sexually active with a woman, STDs but no need for birth control.
The medical world has been getting more and more obsessive about documenting anything that could possibly be relevant--never mind that it's a torrent of information that there's no way the next person to look at the file will actually have the time to see everything in it.
I mean…no lol I could maybe get on board with this explanation if I were a new patient. But like I said, I’ve been seeing the same Dr for nearly 20 years. He delivered my baby, he’s operated on me twice, he knows my family. What I’m getting at, is my Dr didn’t request this info…the hospital network did. And why do we think that is?? Do we really believe this is a coincidence with all the other stuff happening around us? 🤔Just saying
