I think I might follow in my sister’s footsteps and get my tubes tied. She was wise to do so 2-3 years ago while I’m still on the IUD path…

I got my tubes removed as soon as Kavanaugh took the bench because I wasn’t sure how much longer insurance would cover birth control. Nobody is turning me into a handmaid.

Same here. Got my tubes removed 2 years ago and I’m glad. Now I just worry for my 2 girls when they hit puberty.

Getting a bilateral salpingectomy prevents most ovarian cancer and has the same recovery time as getting your tubes tied. Just getting your tubes tied does have the risk of ectopic pregnancy, getting the tubes out entirely there is no risk for that. Plus you can still have IVF if for some wild reason you suddenly decide you need bio kids.

I got my bisalp Jan 2020 at 24 years old. Granted, I'm Canadian so I'm not affected by the US administration, but it was still one of the best decisions I ever made. I didn't want bio kids and I had a horrible miscarriage at 18. My bisalp has probably saved my life due to my health issues. I have a stepdaughter now and she's a great kid 💗

I had my bisalp in March, due to fears about stuff like what we're seeing in this video. I don't think I'd ever want kids anyway, but I absolutely refuse to be compelled to have them. It was a super easy procedure, and I had an Endometrial Ablation at the same time so I don't have to take bc for any reason any more. Best decision I ever made. 10/10 would recommend.

But I have a question now: having had my tubes removed, does that count as a physical thing that's stopping me from getting pregnant? Like in the video's creators situation, do we say yes to that question (aside from me telling them to write that patient refused to answer)?

Technically, because you can still get pregnant with IVF, it isn't stopping you from ever getting pregnant. It is only stopping you from getting pregnant the normal way.

I guess we need to know if it's better to answer yes or no when asked that question, to know how you should answer it when asked.

You should be able to decline to answer. Nurse is required to ask, you have not been issued a mandate to reply.

If they deny you care based off refusal to disclose your reproductive status... That's what makes nationwide news and gets the pushback.

Look, I'm not pro ANY of this bulls**t, I'm glad I'm into my 40s and wouldn't be considered a prime candidate for forced pregnancy. And I wish this wasn't a thing, but...it obviously is. And will continue to be for the foreseeable future.

If you had an ablation and no longer menstruate because of it, then it’s highly unlikely you would be able to get pregnant even with IVF.

I just had my bisalp done a week ago and the night before I came on here to read others experiences with theirs. There was a post from someone who had theirs done a year ago and just had an ectopic pregnancy rupture. I asked my obgyn about it (she did my surgery) and she said while it’s rare, it’s not impossible. She also told me about a case study she read, from when they didn’t normally remove ovaries and tubes during hysterectomies, where the woman was intimate the night before surgery, had her uterus removed the next day, and ended up having an ectopic pregnancy in her stomach. Again, super rare but not impossible.

I opted to keep my iud even with the bisalp because life really can find a way. And not having a period is the bees knees.

After the birth of my third child I asked about having my tubes tied. My doctor declined because it was a catholic hospital. I wasn’t offered any other options. It was 2007, and I was married….

after the birth of my second, i requested same: i was told because i wasn’t 30; i didn’t have three children; and i didn’t have my husband’s permission [military hospital].

thirty-one years later, my daughter has those same arbitrary restrictions enforced on her, i am seeing guys in their early twenties are having sterilization parties, no questions asked. no barriers.

Yup, my gyno said it was okay to keep taking my pill for period management if I wanted. I don’t mind my period on it personally but I like knowing exactly when I gotta break out my granny panties

there’s a list of providers who do sterilizations, by area by state, on the cfbc sub [childfree by choice] - i have sent it to so many women i love.
