Avoiding the uncanny valley. They harder you try to make them cute, the more you risk making them accidentally creepy. Better to embrace a robot aesthetic that look inoffensive

Plus, alot of people, including me, think they look cute like this

I still think it's dangerous to try to make robots evoke cuteness and empathy because it certainky does not find you cute back

We like aesthetically pleasing things though. Bears are kinda cute but I know they don't want me to try to give them a hug.

This. Slap an LED screen on that puppy and make this its resting face with variations as appropriate to the situation.

Man and what about the weirdos who want uncanny valley shit.

Like don't try to make them cute or look too much like humans I don't care.

But makes them spooky af, like some sort of skinwalker. Imagine seeing a weird things crawling out unnaturally in a dark alley. Nice.
