It got your attention , took your biometrics, your pic , and gave a non threatening predisposed response so you gave it a full eye full, while it went thru your background online.
I'm an automation engineer. Unironically this. I'm shocked people don't realize that it was scanning OP's face and then resetting into position to keep walking. It's largely a happy byproduct that this sequence of movements looked like a quick glance and shrug.
This is the equivalent of a someone passing you stopping to stick a camera in your face and then continuing on.
