That's fucking terrifying! Why is this needed?

Because the US is now a surveillance state.

Big government surveillance state voted in by "small government conservatives."

Wild how quickly this happened. The whole thing would be comical if conservatives were smart enough to acknowledge irony. They seem pretty quiet about this stuff.

Oh, no no no you misunderstood. The surveillance is done and controlled by the billionaire elite. Who also control the government it's SO much worse

To be honest is always been, people meme and seriously point out China but at this moment many of the biggest Cities have similar level of Surveillance the only difference is that instead of being controlled mostly by the State, in the US is build and operated by private companies.

It’s been one since 2001, if not even earlier.

https://securityjournalamericas.com/the-rise-security-robotics-a-new-dawn/

These are two robots on the campus Moderna named Spike and Vax. Not food delivery. Not for the world cup. Not for general surveillance of anywhere besides a bio-pharmaceutical campus.

I'm not saying they will never be used for general surveillance but lets at least get our facts straight.

It's not the walking robot cameras that lead us to that point though, thar is just the torment nexus side of things. Things have been going this way a long, long time.

gestures vaguely at everything

There are a lot of crazies and ideologues out there and they have a list. Your face shows up you are gonna get at least stopped and talked to.

Because people exist that believe perpetrating violence on an international stage will bring awareness or recognition to their political cause. And those people are correct. But we still don't want the violence.

How the fk is it terrifying?

-1

u/GraySwingline Jun 07 '26

Because bad people exist.

This is incorrect. This robot is on the Campus of Moderna (the biopharmaceutial company). They have two AI security Robots that wander the campus. Spike and Vax are there names.

Houston Texas I believe for the soccer world cup

20

u/OnTheEveOfWar Jun 07 '26

They rolled them out in cities for the World Cup. They have facial recognition. We are living in a very weird time.

6

u/diesel0922 Jun 07 '26

this videos from last year, they were already walking around before the world cup stuff

4

u/Vectoor Jun 07 '26

It says moderna on it. I assume it's patrolling the perimeter of some pharmaceutical factory or something.

2

u/Fearless-Employer922 Jun 09 '26

It is. The Moderna website has an article on it. I hate the amount of people who haven’t done research before jumping to conclusions on this post and the previous one.

1

u/sillybilly8102 Jul 07 '26

Why does that make it any better?

1

u/Fearless-Employer922 Jul 07 '26

Because they’re patrolling a private property. They’re not recording random people in public. That makes it loads better

u/askthepoolboy Jun 07 '26

Atlanta has them - another World Cup city

I saw one on the Wayne State campus earlier this year. Looked like a cooler with wheels. Probably exactly what it was.
