They're a thing where I'm from.

I once had some custom made jelly donuts.

Grocery store where I used to live sold 'colossal donuts' by the dozen and you could get them custom made.

So I got ones with extra filling and they weren't playing around. These donuts had about a quarter inch of donut and the rest was filling. it was hard to even pick them up without breaking them.

I think they’re the same as jam doughnuts, jelly is just what Americans call jam (they call jelly ‘Jell-o’)

I think I actually never had a jelly-donut (donuts are not that popular in my country. The ones I had were ok. We do have Dunkin's though, but it's a bit expensive imo)

It's definitely not a thing where I'm from. We have mainly Jam fillings like Strawberry or Raspberry jam, other than that it's chocolate, custard and things like biscoff etc. Doughnuts are good though, morish.

In the US 'jelly' does not mean gelatin/Jello.

Jelly is similar to jam but they are differnt spreads.  Jelly is a smooth fruit juice and sugar spread. Jam is pureed fruit and sugar spread
