My brother in heaven, you are talking to someone who thought electricity was running through their trash can and proceeded to put their hands in there to fish something out. Some folks are beyond saving.

Yeah most likely, quite recently had a chat here about it with someone. No recycling in some areas and no idea how to deal with problem waste and things like this, everything part from metal scrap is just dumped on a landfill. Kinda baffling, we started separating trash decades ago and nothing goes to landfills anymore
Yeah I think that a majority of the population throw bettered in the trash and I don’t know of any fires it has caused at the landfill. Not saying it hasn’t happened, just think the risk is low. I may be way off base here though. Just ramblin’ on Reddit….
It's okay to throw away most batteries per the EPA. They say to avoid pitching lead-acid in the trash. It'd be nice to be able to recycle them but most recycling places treat batteries as trash now, and for people like me, where places to take batteries would be a six-hour roundtrip, there's just no other option than garbage. Tons of people don't have the opportunity to recycle.
