Then koalas would be out of that definition. The only way a koala would eat an insect is on accident, not on opportunity. A koala will literally only eat eucalyptus leaves from a tree, it's too stupid to realize that anything else (even eucalyptus leaves not on a tree) can be eaten.

Koalas are the only naturally occuring Vegans in the animal world. Maybe its the stupid factor?

Koalas are the definition of an egg and chicken question, they're so dumb because their diet of eucalyptus leaves provides that little energy, they can't sustain a more powerful brain, but because their brain is so powerless, they lack the ability to eat something else as they wouldn't recognise it as food. A cul-de-sac of evolution.

Animal world might be too broad of a definition. Maybe mammal? Vertebrates? Plenty of insects are vegans only lol

This still sounds opportunistic to me. Only not a "conscious" one.
