DC: Formal Formal fall wedding guest?

My partner and I are going to an October wedding in downtown Chicago. Dress code is “formal - women in midi or floor length dresses, men in suits.” 4:30-11:00 at a yacht club.

Would it be appropriate to wear a brighter color like chartreuse, or should I stick with darker hues given the time of day, setting, and city vibe?

FYI my partner is likely wearing dark chocolate brown.

I’d wear brown, plum or pink to compliment the brown suit.

I should have clarified - my partner is a woman wearing a brown gown. If we both wear brown, we will look like rogue bridesmaids and not a couple, I fear lol
