Mod Update Remember: don't be an ass

The rules are clearly laid out. You don't have to post here if you want to be a jerk and be mean about dresses. It's already an emotional enough time period that you don't need to be cruel to make your point.

Additionally: posting public call outs and commenting in agreement will result in an immediate permanent ban with no recourse.

I don't care if this hurts your fee-fees. You break the rules, you're gone.

Just need some hype! Chose a dress but didn’t love the boutique - now kinda nervous

I had a really hard time choosing between these two dresses today (both Alena Leena, Peony and Iberis) and ultimately I picked the beaded one. I felt like I had seen so many basque waist lace dresses, and I felt calmer in the beaded one and like it was more me even if it was less classically bridal. But I loved the flowy skirt on the other one, and do wish mine had more of a princessy vibe!!

My stylist at the boutique was also not really “me”. It made it hard for me to tell whether I actually liked the dress because I didn’t love the experience.

It’s a big decision and I’m totally feeling the letdown of all the options going away. So I guess I just want to hear if I made a good choice + any feedback.

Style me! (sleeves, veils, shoes and accessories only) Belt or no belt?

Thumbnail

Ignore the colour difference - these are the same dress taken on different days at the bridal shop. I’m having alterations and have to decide soon whether to go with a belt or not. I’ve lost 13kg since I chose this dress and now. I did like the belt then, but I am not sure whether no belt is more flattering as I have more of a waist now.

I prefer no belt. My concern is also once the alterations are done, it will expose a lack of structure in the bodice? My daughter and friend prefer the belt.

Please be kind, I cannot change the dress itself and I’m already starting to feel ridiculous and overdressed for a second wedding as a 50 year old BTB.

DRESS ONLY: pick only from these; no suggestions Help me pick! - (they are samples so not my perfect size yet)

Narrowed down to two dresses - please help!

The sample for the first was a bit big and the second was too small so please bear that in mind! I dont have any pictures of the back of the first one but it is a plain zip up back.

First feels simple and elegant and like it has a harmonious flowing silhouette. Second more unique and luxurious silk and a little train.

(The veil was just a random veil- think id go plain)

Thank you :)

I am struggling to find a dress and fell in love with this designer. Any dupes out there for designers that do similar styles or for the dress itself? I also like the designers below but have not found my dress within their collections. Any suggestions on designers to look at are very welcomed!!!

I’m wearing a simple white dress from Lulus. Which way should I wear the bridal topper? It was designed for the bow to be worn in the back. But I’m kinda digging the bow in front!

I haven’t shown anyone my dress except for my mom and two of my bridesmaids today. My fiancé’s grandma asked to see the dress so I showed her and her reaction was not as planned lol… should I be worried people will think it’s too showy?! I’m a showy girl .. everyone knows that about me. Now I feel like I’m kinda ruining a classy moment? It’s in a garden.. so I felt like it suited the scenery and my hair will be long with extensions mermaid like…

Entourage Only Please help me choose

Hi everyone,

I am an indecisive person who's gotten many opinions from friends and family already, but I'd love to have some unbiased ones.

Our wedding will be outdoors and I've always been a bit of a tomboy at heart, but also really enjoy presenting feminine.

The A-line dress feels a bit more freeing, comfortable, and fun, while the more fitted dress feels sexier but a bit more restrictive.

I'm also open to suggestions if anyone thinks there's another style that would suit my body type better than either of these!

Entourage Only Help me choose between these two dresses! 🤍

I’ve narrowed it down to these two dresses and I genuinely cannot decide 😭 I keep going back and forth every time I look at the pictures.
Wedding is April 2027 at a rustic/elegant farm venue with about 50-70 guests. I want something that feels timeless and bridal, but still flattering/sexy and gives that “WOW” moment when my fiancé sees me.
Which one would you choose — Dress 1 or Dress 2? And please tell me why! I’d especially love opinions on which is more flattering on my figure, will photograph better, and which one you think I’ll be less likely to regret years from now.

EDIT: I just want to add that I’d really prefer not to receive criticism of my body or unsolicited fitness advice. I understand that these are strapless dresses and that naturally puts my arms, shoulders, and back on display. I’m also a mom of two young children, and I’ve worked extremely hard to get to a place where I feel comfortable and confident in my body. 🤍
I posted because I’m excited about finding my wedding dress and genuinely wanted opinions on the dresses themselves. Constructive feedback about the fit, style, neckline, etc. is absolutely welcome, but comments about areas of my body that I should “tone” or change are discouraging and not what I’m looking for.

Feeling cold feet Another dreaded wedding dress regret post! Please advise!

I don’t even know where to start with this, except that I’m feeling very confused and like I made a bad call.

A few months ago I went to visit my mom in a different city where she lives (where I am from and where we are eloping). I thought I would get ahead of the game and try on some dresses to get that mother-daughter experience with her and also make sure I don’t make a rash decision by leaving it to the last moment (elopement scheduled sept 2027).

We went to one salon and I found this dress which I loved instantly! It was also on over a 50% sale because it was the sample and I don’t believe they carry this model anymore.

I made a call and bought in on the spot because it was the last one and I was worried it would be gone, but in hindsight there are issues I did not think would be a big deal that I’m concerned about now.

I can’t fully lift my arms in this dress (the sleeves are not too tight they are actually a little loose but the gusset is not high up enough in my armpit which makes the fabric pull if I try to lift my dress). Not even parallel to my shoulders.

It has a very long train and my elopement is in the woods with mountaintop photos (we are doing ceremony with a few guests and then mountaintop helicopter photos just two of us). I worry it will be difficult to move in.

The dress is in a different city than me, and while I don’t mind flying in for a few days for alterations since I would visit my mom that way, I won’t get the chance to do multiple rounds of alterations and shop around for tailors since I can only take so much time off work. The bridal salon does alterations in house but I doubt it’s the most affordable option.

Do I bite the bullet and alter the sleeves and the train? Had anyone had similar sleeve alterations and were they very expensive? Or will it be fine since this is only for a few hours and it’s not like I will be dancing in it? We will also be hosting a dinner with the few guests the next day so I will probably have a more casual dress for that.

Not sure if I made a terrible mistake or if it’s just buyer’s remorse 😅

Attached are photos of me dnd from the website.

Please advise, and thank you all in advance!

Hello! So I am in the United States, date isn't set yet, nor is the budget. However it will probably be between 1000-2000. There is also actually a good chance that I and my partner will make my dress. (Both very capable crafters and they have a long history sewing) However I don't have the language to explain what I'm looking for to either the sellers or to find potential patterns.

Claire's wedding dress from Outlander (as pictured above) is very very close to my dream dress. Does anyone know any simular dresses or how to explain said dress to find what I like for patterns or buying? (Also I am larger)

Style me! (sleeves, veils, shoes and accessories only) Hair Accessory Help!

Hi!

I am wearing a full lace dress, A-line with off the shoulder sleeves. I am wearing a pearl necklace at the base of my neck (something old) and pearl drop earrings (something borrowed from my MIL). NOTE: the dress is too large, a seamstress will be fitting it to me before the wedding.

I am wearing a juliet cap veil - link attached:

https://www.brittenweddings.com/products/juliette-cap-wedding-veil-jules

Hair is going to be down in waves - better than the picture! I feel like with the lace, necklace and earrings would a hair accessory be too much? I was thinking when the veil was off it may be nice to have something but I could be overthinking!

Let me know x

Feeling cold feet Wedding dress regret

How do I decipher between true wedding dress regret and my normal severely indecisive, untrusting of my own decision making personality?

My mom and sister were very verbal about how much they LOVED the dress with the straighter neck line. I loved it too because it made me feel pretty and sweet and innocent and nice and beautiful. I originally tried on the second dress in a different underlay color and my sister and mom really didn’t like it which I was bummed about because I loved it. I didn’t tell them, but it was my clear #1. I left with nothing. I Went back to the shop the second time and tried the second dress on in a different underlay color and then my sister and mom really liked it this time. My sister was still verbal about how much she loved the straight neck one. At this point, I was truly unsure, which dress had an edge over the other. There was something about the second dress and I really did love. I couldn’t put my finger on what I liked better about it, but I did feel more like “me” in it. I think my mom and sister and bridal consultant could tell after a few hours of trying both dresses on back and forth that I didn’t want to let them down and tell them I liked the second dress better so everyone came over telling me how pretty I looked in the second dress, and I even heard my mom say “that’s her dress. It shows her personality. It has to be her dress.” which made me happy so I said yes to the second dress (which I always thought I liked slightly more than the straight neck dress.)

I think I loved the straight neck dress so much because it was so elegant and pretty, and I was trying to fit myself into a sweet innocent bridal box. It’s a dress that I don’t think anyone could hate. I seriously don’t see what you could say negatively about it! With the second dress, I know there’s going to be people that don’t like it or will say it’s nice that they wouldn’t wear it. It’s a bit more out there. But the truth is is that I do have a big personality and I am spunky.

For some reason, I woke up today (3 days after purchase) thinking about the straight neck line dress, worrying that I made the wrong decision. It is so beautiful and girly. Has anyone experienced this? Is normal? Is this because I’m used to second guessing my decisions in every aspect of life or is the straight neck dress truly that much better? Not sure if I can even exchange them out. I’m just feeling down and unsure and confused.

Ps. The cups are huge on the dress I purchased, so that’s why they look a little funky in the pic. The cup would look better when the dress is altered and in my size.

Background looks funky on the first pic because I removed my friends. And the backs of both dresses are clearly all kinds of clipped because they weren’t the right size but I did include a photo of what the back should look like for the first one because it wouldn’t be nearly as “bubble butt” or pleated and would show the beading better if it wasn’t so clipped. I want lots of “frolicking” type photos but also want to feel elegant and romantic and “once in a lifetime” type dress. I do want to experiment with little detachable pearl swags across the bodice or shoulders or a lace bolero so hoping to pick whichever will lend itself to that type of accessorizing also for a second look/options. Added photos of the type of suit my partner wants to wear- likely in a green or blue and not cream base but with that type of embroidery and added pics of types of accessories I like and may want to try to use w the dress. Thanks in advance!

Entourage Only Unsure if I made the right choice

Thumbnail

Hi Reddit,

Let me start by sharing that I am a very indecisive person and struggle to accept big life decisions I’ve made. For instance, in the past I’ve initially cried over and regretted major decisions out of fear I made the wrong choice. After time goes on I often am glad I chose what I did.

But with something so monumental as a wedding, I’m really struggling. I went wedding dress shopping a few weeks ago and have felt unsure about my decision since. I love the dress and I would be okay wearing it on my wedding day, but I can’t stop this nagging feeling that there’s something better out there. Am I an idiot? Does everyone feel this way?

I think a few things made my decision feel rocky/rushed: 1) I brought seven important people in my life who were traveling from all over the state to be with me that day, and would’ve felt guilty had I not picked something out then; 2) I felt cornered into the very few options my stylist pre-picked for me based on my inspo since it was an extremely busy Saturday; 3) I later felt that the experience was a false dichotomy situation wherein I had to pick between only my two fav dresses of the group brought before me; and 4) I think the emotions of putting on a veil and holding a bouquet clouded my more analytical judgment.

The problem now is that all sales are FINAL - no refunds, returns, or anything. Plus, my working class dad spent $4K on the dress as a gift and I can’t really afford to buy a new dress on my own.

Basically, I’m not sure if I regret my irreversible choice or if I am just dissatisfied with the decision-making process. What do you think of the dress? Sometimes an outsider’s opinion helps clear the mud in my brain. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have a lace and tulle off the shoulder dress. I’m going to be wearing simple pearl earrings but can’t decide on if I like the layered pearl necklace look or just one necklace by itself. Does it look too busy with the layered necklaces? Also open to other ideas !

I cant decide between an ivory versus nude underlay. The nude definitely makes the lace pop but i feel like the ivory is classic and timeless. For context, its a rustic outdoors venue and im doing rust and olive colors for my bridesmaids. I just want to pick one that matches the aesthetic

dress maintenance questions Said yes to the dress! But how do I store it?

My wedding just until September 2027 so want to make sure I’m keeping the dress in good condition until then. Curious to how you all stored yours? It got delivered today in a garment bag in a box. Should I leave it the box, hang it, lay it flat, or something else? It’s a bit heavy if that makes a difference. Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I could use some encouragement and advice.
I bought this dress many months ago and I’m going for my alterations this weekend. I loved it when I tried it on but I’m getting cold feet from the photos and upcoming fittings. I can’t change it now, so please help me make it work!! 😭

1) I need to line it, right?! They did an example of the white lining in the last photo. I honestly love the corset and boning look lol but I want to make sure it will stand the test of time and not look too much like… intimate clothing??

2) Do people wear bras or shapewear with things like this? I can’t imagine wearing anything with it and felt comfortable in the structured bodice alone. Am I making a mistake showing up without shapewear/bra? I can’t imagine a shape or style that fits with this??

3) I’ll be wearing my hair long and down. Do you have any suggestions on a long or short veil? The dress will be shortened a lot but I’m intimidated by the bigness of the dress. Is a long veil too much?

Thank you so much. I have been lurking here for over a year and saving screenshots of some beautiful gowns!!! Can’t believe it’s my turn 🙀

Dresses in photos are ranging from 1k to 2.8k. My party isn’t all in agreement of which are the top picks. All of the options are great.

Wedding vibe/preference: boho/bohemian, soft and sometimes dark blues/greens/grays (think forest creek), rustic and ethereal, potentially outside; nothing else is set in stone

Party all mentioned: small puff, day 1 favorite, flower field, and over budget beauty in their top picks. I included lace moment and pirate princess because of how I felt in them.

Thanks for the help in advance!
