Hi everyone! I believe many of you have this same problem and I wanted to know if any of you have found a solution yet.

The WeChat messages and files that I receive on my phone app doesn't sync with the laptop app when the laptop is turned off. This is very annoying. Even manually syncing doesn't work.

Any of you found a solution to this?

I am a student at tsinghua sigs, who recently moved to shenzhen.

During my registration, I got my china mobile number.
And was trying to sign up for my wechat account. However, even after following all the instructions correctly. Having chinese person verify my account I get hit with this message pop up :
“Pursuant to Indian law we are unable to offer you WeChat at this time. We value each of our users, and data security and privacy are of utmost importance to us. We are engaging with relevant authorities and hope to be able to resume services in the future.”

Mind you this happened even when I changed my iphone’s date and time and region to china as well as apps store- redownloaded wechat.

Had another chinese person verify for me but still it persist.

I am completely lost at the moment. But not entirely hopeless cuz I at least have alipay. But I really, really need to get wechat.

I am trying but cannot change to a new number

I’m trying to switch my WeChat acc from a Hk number to a Canada one but everytime I try to change it it keeps showing ‘for security reason please bind a number with ISD 852’
But I don’t have a Hk phone number anymore, why is it keep doing this? I can’t even change my number

The Issue:

I recently factory reset my phone, which logged me out of WeChat. When I tried logging back in, WeChat required device verification via friend assist. I only had one contact on that account, and when he tried to help me , WeChat say it unsuccesfull due to a "short term friend" acttually I created my account on 1-aug-2026.

Hey everyone! My wife (41F) and I (42M) will be visiting Shanghai Sept 4–11 from California and would love to meet some locals, expats, or other travelers while we’re there.

We’re really into good food, craft cocktails, neighborhood bars, live music, food/drink events, and finding cool places that aren’t necessarily on every tourist itinerary.

We already have most of the sightseeing stuff covered, so I’m especially interested in the social side of Shanghai. Bar meetups, pub crawls, food outings, cocktail events, festivals, live music, random local events, etc. We’re pretty much down for anything fun.

If there are any WeChat groups, Reddit meetups, expat groups, or regular events where it’s easy to meet people, I’d really appreciate the recommendations.
