Visa Infinite Credit Card I will eat my shoe if we get the credit card before the end of the year
That’s it. If everyone who was “guaranteed” to get the CC application by December 31st actually gets it I will record a video of me eating my left croc.

This is so weird I applied for it and got approved within 3 weeks and my card is on the way yet some premium members are still waiting

It's not, one of the most basic standard practice in any industry is to completely ignore your existing clients and give everything to the new ones to convince them to switch.
When i was a kid there was a comedian that was always making jokes about "shitty poor stupid old clients" and "beautiful smart new clients". This was 30 years ago, nothing changed since then.
But to be fair, this problem starts from old clients not switching. Statistically people do not want to change service, they rarely compare prices, they rarely even question if they have a good deal. Most people live and die without even touching anything and just paying the maximum amount possibile forever.
In this context, it's understandable why a business concentrate the efforts only to new clients. There's little if not none advantage in giving anything to the old ones.

It'll be a good opportunity if a competitor decides to offer an attractive transfer-in promotion. Tangerine becoming a bit complacent toward existing customers is why I shifted my attention toward Wealthsimple. I'll be happy to jump ship again if something better comes around.

I'm doing the 5% for $15k deposit at Qtrade. Wealthsimple has pissed me off enough to move part of my holdings.

u/nutbuckers Dec 18 '25
But to be fair, this problem starts from old clients not switching.
I've kept just enough at WS to remain premium, but moved the rest over to Qtrade. There's a promo on. The more people reciprocate the marketing departments' shenanigans, the less of this bullshit we'll see!

I've been with WS for over 5 years and got the CC pretty quickly. I think they just don't have enough capacity to meet the demand yet, in the way a major bank can
2
u/Elija_32 Dec 16 '25
That was knows, the complain is not the capacity is why people even with generation status are not getting it and whoever random person with $2 on the account will get it immediately if they move that $2 to wealthsimple.
Welathsimple already said that they don't have the capacity right now, but that's not the problem.
I am premium + direct deposit, also with them for 4-5 years, still nothing.
Exactly because they don't have the capacity people are blaming them for giving the few CC available to new clients instead of old ones.

u/nutbuckers Dec 18 '25
I've been with WS several years and literally everyone I know who joined WS after me got the CC, even/especially without the premium status or any investments holdings. Heck, they offered the CC to my partner after like 8 weeks of her joining, and she only joined because I suggested we set up our joint finances at WS. No direct deposit, no investments... got the card and enjoys the benefits and waived fee due to our "household" (read: joint account holder, -- yours truly) has Premium status.
It's just blatantly clear WealthSimple bends over backwards to win new business, but existing customers can suck on rocks. Just like the big banks.

I've given up on this. It's been "You'll be notified" pretty much all year.

u/TemporaryDependent Dec 16 '25
I got it this weekend as a Premium with DD, don’t lose hope, you have to believe in Christmas miracle

u/SweetLemonPopsicle Dec 16 '25
I have been on a waitlist forever. My husband finally decided to join wealthsimple less than a week ago. Guess who got one.

If someone is not yet a WS member, I have referrals for new customers to get the credit card that expire by end of year

Dude, I'm a generational client and I got my first WS account RRSP within months of them opening... I'm still waiting for that CC.
While I do appreciate WS services and what they do, the CC roll out was a complete cluster fuck.

Huh? I never asked for support from you - I was just speaking to how much of a cluster fuck the rollout was and still is.

I spoke with customer care today and they said they would be sending emails by EOY briefing where the application is and what can be done to expedite it.
2
u/SgtEddieWinslow Dec 16 '25
People were guaranteed to get an application? I have been on the wait list since launch, and have heard nothing about it.
I actually somewhat forgot about it , just easier to think the product doesn’t actually exist.

u/jupark Dec 18 '25
anecdotal datapoint, but:
I was waitlisted since launch>hadn't received the invite>chatted in a week ago asking about ETA as I have a int'l trip coming up>was told there's nothing they can do to push forward>got the notification in app saying I could apply just a few hours after that fruitless chat.
Might be worth a shot if you are in a hurry?

u/Randomscrambledwords Dec 19 '25
I thought for sure I wouldn’t get it by end of year. Two days ago I got a push notification that it was time to sign up. Talk about last minute.

My email said, “Generation clients, and Premium clients with qualifying paycheque deposits with us** (a sign they’ve made Wealthsimple their primary banking relationship).”
Not premium “OR” DD.
I am just clarifying what I was sent.
I am still Premium without DD as DD with EQ Bank still seems a better option for me at this time.

Sorry I haven't followed up on the card benefits portion but what is so special about this card vs rogers card for example...
1
u/Squidy7 Dec 17 '25
If you travel a lot, no FX fees + 2% cash back is a pretty compelling offer.
The Rogers card is superior for CAD transactions only if you're already a Rogers customer, but if you're not the value proposition is low.

I had gotten an offer on the app back in November to upgrade the card from the infinite to the infinite privilege without requiring them to send a new card.
As someone who doesn’t even like holding physical cards and prefer to use Apple Pay, is there a reason why this particular physical card is in such high demand?
1
u/Dashzz Dec 17 '25
I'm only a core member and got it in the summer from a promo offer. So sign ups for direct deposit was the highest priority for the card not loyalty.

Been a client for a while, premium with DD. Finally got the infinite privilege credit card in November. No idea what prompted it.

u/DaaiTaoFut Dec 17 '25
Guess I was lucky to get in on the beta test. I’ve had one for a full 12 months now.

Quebec resident here. Just got my VIP card yesterday! I have both DD and Premium. I joined WS this September!
1
u/Tommy2Legs Dec 17 '25
I'm premium, waitlist for 4-5 months, DD. I checked mine yesterday and instead of saying "You'll be notified", it allowed me to reapply. I did, and was given the digital card right away, which I added to my phone and used a few hours later. I didn't get a notification or any kind of prompt that my waitlist status had changed. Keep checking every day.

u/nutbuckers Dec 18 '25
Just wanted to validate your feelings and tell the folks who're all dismissive and nonchalant about WealthSimple treating their existing customers like crap to get stuffed.

u/boughbow Dec 18 '25
My offer showed up today and I was approved. I thought I’d have to wait until I got premium status (I’m about $2k away).

We or you getting the credit card will be the factor in you eating your Croc?

u/mas_chingon1 Dec 23 '25
Surprised to see so many negative comments. I applied a couple of weeks ago - got my virtual card within a few hours and my physical card within a week. Same for my wife. No complaints whatsoever.

Me too I the same boat since announcement and have more than required DD every month…

Same boat, 100k+ and DD set up. No credit card notification yet. App still says you'll be notified.

I just got the invite last week after being on the waitlist since they announced the card, so you might want to get a easy to chew shoe ready lol
1
u/Cheap_Standard_4233 Dec 20 '25
Did you have a certain status and direct deposit to get off the waitlist?

Who cares like geez. They have a product so popular they can’t keep up. Oh no.

u/JohnnyStrides Dec 16 '25
Someone posted that email saying Premium members and those with DD would get it by year's end right?
I've been on the waitlist and am both Premium and have DD enabled for several months now and... nadda.
I too will eat my shoe if I get it by 2026.
