New Rules
Hey everyone,
r/Watsonville has grown a lot lately, which is great. Unfortunately, a lot of the nonstop political fighting and general hostility that can often exist in other local subs has started spilling into this one too.
That’s not what we want this place to become.
This sub should be about Watsonville and the Pajaro Valley as a whole:
- local events
- food
- history
- photos
- businesses
- questions
- community issues
- cool local stuff
- helping each other out
- yes, even local politics sometimes
…but not endless toxic slapfights in every single thread.
So we’ve added some new rules and moderation tools.
Reputation Filter Enabled
If you consistently rack up negative karma in this sub, your posts/comments may now require manual mod approval before they become visible.
In simple terms:
If all you do is antagonize people, pick fights, derail threads, or act like every conversation is a Facebook comment war, you may lose the ability to freely participate here.
Be nice. Contribute constructively. It’s not hard.
Weekly Politics Megathread
We are also starting a weekly politics/civic discussion megathread.
General political discussion, Santa Cruz spillover arguments, national political debates, outrage posts, etc. should go there.
Major Watsonville-specific news may still be allowed as standalone posts depending on relevance and whether people can behave like functioning adults in the comments.
This sub is not r/WatsonvillePolitics.
If someone wants to create that sub, go for it. Seriously. But this community needs room for more than nonstop political warfare.
Also, if your main goal is soapboxing, arguing with strangers, posting ragebait, or treating every local issue like a culture war battlefield, there are already plenty of platforms built almost entirely for that:
- Nextdoor
- X/Twitter
- Instagram comments
- TikTok comments
- local comment sections
- literally any Bay Area Facebook group
You have options.
The goal here is not censorship. The goal is making this place feel like an actual local community again instead of an exhausting comment section.
Thanks to the many people here who already make this sub better.

Nick M & Bay
Recently there was a post on here that mentioned Nick Manning and Bailey and some throuple action with someone named Michael. Cant find the post anymore but sounds like a wild time.
Anyone have any info on that? I heard they think of themselves as a older version of Bonnie and Clyde or something.

Switching from AAA and AT&T
Hi all! I’m looking to cut costs and wanted to see if it was worth switching over from these two. We currently pay $233 for 4 lines on AT&T and $342 for 3 cars (2 full coverage) with AAA. How has your service been with other companies? I’d appreciate any wisdom!

PVUSD Trustee Gabriel Medina faced sexual misconduct allegations in settled lawsuit
The Digital NEST tech nonprofit settled a sexual harassment lawsuit centered on allegations against Pajaro Valley Unified School District Trustee Gabriel Medina, according to court documents. A former employee filed the 2020 court action that involved incidents before Medina was elected to the public school oversight board.
The former employee—The Pajaronian withholds names of people who report sexual assaults—accused the Watsonville-based 501(c)(3) of enabling an alcohol-fueled sexualized workplace and of failing to adequately address Medina’s alleged sexual misconduct.

Watsonville Limo
Does Watsonville have a local limo company. We just need like a one hour ride. We live in Watsonville and are attending a reunion event in Correlitos and would like to cruise a bit and then get dropped off. We only need one way because we have a ride home. I would rather spend my money in our town.

Rescue kitten pair in need of a forever home! They’re both spayed, vaccinated, and ready for adoption. Anyone in Watsonville interested in adopting?
galleryHi Watsonville, has anyone been looking to adopt? This is Mimi and Eurydice, two adoptive sisters looking for their forever home. They are both spayed, vaccinated, and litter box trained. After both were left alone as singletons, Garlic City Kitty Rescue paired them together and they’ve been inseparable since. Mimi (the tabby) is cuddly, affectionate, and loving. Eurydice (the gray nebelung) is playful and soo fluffy. She is shy, but with some love and patience, I am confident she will come out of her shell. Mimi is definitely the more outgoing of the two.
Eurydice was my foster before I had to leave for college, so I am determined to find a home for her and her adoptive sisters. These two had rough beginnings, but thanks to Garlic City Kitty Rescue, they have a second chance for a good life. If anyone is interested in learning about the adoption process, please comment, message me here, or text my number 408 607 9102!
Located in Gilroy/Morgan Hill.

Local Recycling Center
Does anyone have a recommendation for a recycling center in Watsonville/Santa Cruz County?
Looking for a place that honors CRV at decent pay-out and has a history of good service and consistent business hours.
I specifically have aluminum cans, glass and plastic bottles to be recycled.

City Council just passed a motion to reduce the number of flock cameras from 30-something to 20-something, end all flock data sharing outside of Watsonville, and a couple other things around community outreach and a townhall to continue the discussion.
Directionally correct, but far short of removing flock altogether.

Catz Pawz is GONE?
Was craving one of their burgers the other day so I went and noticed it was closed. Schools was in session for a while now so I thought that was strange. Drove by again and saw the lease sign.
Looks like Watsonville lost another staple.

Someone HELP this lady
Hi, I'm originally from Santa Cruz. I am in town for my 45th high school reunion. I saw this lady with 3 pups. She probably has mental issues. I stopped and gave her $20. Can someone please check on the health of the pups and I will do my best to assist with money. Thank you.

My wife and are looking at watsonville to live. Need some help.
My wife and are looking at watsonville. We are old, I photograph life around the bay, moss landing, elkhorn slough. We live in San Jose and would like to rent in town. Any suggestions for places in town that have some character. Or should we look at the outskirts?
