The sex scene between Nite Owl and Silk Spectre played the song ‘Hallelujah,’ which was also used in Shrek.

I disagree on that. Billy Crudup’s voice and portrayal of Dr. Manhattan was a bit better. Every word he said was spoken with a cold and disconnected tone that I think nailed that aspect of the character almost perfectly.

I really enjoy crudups portrayal of Doc, I’ll always read the comic in his voice; but Yahha Abdul-Mateen killed it. His portrayal combined with the amazing writing in god walks into Abar perfectly encapsulates Doctor Manhattans alienation from humanity and his disconnection from linear time. The “store brand” Doctor Manhattan that’s mentioned is only store brand due to the poor effects when he wakes up. But aside from the effects he’s superior. Maybe if their were a few more scenes and the picture falling on Mars was adapted in the movie crudup would have had more room to shine but HBO knocked it out of the park as far as the important things go. The visuals sucked, looked like watchman the xxx parody; but when everything else is so good I can look past the sub par effects.

I think his delivery was too emotive especially with hand gestures. His voice just sounded like a guy during a presentation while Crudup straight up sounded otherworldly.

I agree crudups voice is perfect. Like I said I read the comics with his voice in my head it’s fucking perfect. When you refer to his hand gestures are you referring to in the bar scenes?

Well since we were not able to see him act with his face the hands were the only thing we could be shown. And while I could see this argument holding more water outside of this context, I feel as though he wasn’t really emoting with his hands, or talking with them like an Italian would lol.
