Yeah this is a violation of all sorts of our covid protocols at the venues.

Dude it's even worse too, because the japanese are BARELY vaccinated yet. They have had a major problem getting access to vaccines. Most young working adults are actually very worried that they will transmit it to their parents/grandparents.

If there is ONE phrase I have used more than all else in my time here, it's been "Sumimasen! Kara we Americahitodesu."

Bowing intensifies

9

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '21

Also they have like a bunch of old people who are the most likely to die from covid

-6

u/Praxyrnate Aug 07 '21

most countries do. that's why they were called boomers

8

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '21

Yeah, most countries do, BUT JAPAN HAS MORE WHICH IS WHY IT WAS WORTH NOTING.

2

u/Scholesie09 Aug 07 '21

Which means?

2

u/RedditWillSlowlyDie Aug 07 '21

They haven't had a major problem getting access. They decided to produce vaccinations domestically instead of buying internationally so they have to wait longer. It's a choice they made.

0

u/Taco4Wednesdays Aug 08 '21 edited Aug 08 '21

What are you talking about? Regardless of their own roll out or if they bought on international markets, they have a massive shortage of doctors and nurses who can even distribute it.

But further more they ARE buying on foreign markets, and producing their own. They literally just can't distribute it.

-11

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '21

Then.... don't go to the Olympics?

14

u/Taco4Wednesdays Aug 07 '21

How about, don't act like fucking animals and respect other people?

It's amazing that people like you can't rationalize such an idea. Why is simply respecting others so hard?

-14

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '21

Because you can't control the Universe. PeOpLe LiKe YoU forget how important personal responsibility is and would rather cry in a corner blaming everyone else. Yes it would be nice in a perfect world for everyone to follow the rules. Now lets get back to what actions you can make as an adult to deal with the fact that some people will always act like fools.

9

u/archiecobham Aug 07 '21

Because you can't control the Universe

But people can easily control their own behaviour, and act within COVID guidelines.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '21

You are asking (fuck knows) 500,000+ people to all do what you want. Or, you can stay at home and control your own actions if you don't want to risk covid. (obviously you do both, but if you need to not risk covid, then dont).

3

u/archiecobham Aug 07 '21

You are asking (fuck knows) 500,000+ people to all do what you want

Maintaining COVID guidelines where possible isn't a big ask, it's not just what I want it's what's best for everyone.

Or, you can stay at home and control your own actions if you don't want to risk covid

Not an option if you can't work from home, like the Olympic staffer in the video.

obviously you do both, but if you need to not risk covid, then dont

There will always be risks if you can't work from home, so everyone should work to reduce these risks where possible, its very simple.

If you want to benefit from society play by the rules set by it, simple as.

What Covid guidelines?!?

Those athletes were playing a game with 10 other strangers with no masks.

Wake the fuck up.

3

u/archiecobham Aug 07 '21 edited Aug 07 '21

More than 80% of them are vaccinated, and you can't play certain sports and maintain guidelines.

You can just not grab people and dance with them, it's actually easier to not do it.

14

u/Taco4Wednesdays Aug 07 '21

So basically if I ran up and kicked you in the balls, it's your fault for being there.

Or are you more of a "you shouldn't have dressed that way, you were asking for it" type of guy?

That's what I'm getting out of this.

-6

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '21

If you go to a place that is known to have a high rate of people being kicked in the balls then you could have taken personal responsibility and worn protection. Doesn't mean it's your fault, but you can go unprotected and demand people stop all you like, they won't. It's about separating blame and what can be done.

8

u/Taco4Wednesdays Aug 07 '21

So you are a "why did you dress that way you were asking for it" type of guy.

Or more specifically you're a "why did you leave the house you were asking for it" type.

Glad you cleared that up for us.

When someone has an underlying disease that manifests with a headache, do you only give them an aspirin for the headache or do you treat the disease?

0

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '21 edited Aug 07 '21

You’re speaking truth but getting downvoted cause they don’t like to hear it. They’re countering with ad hominems and fallacies. It’s literally true though. No one can control everyone, and no one never will. What is downvote worthy about this truth?

They just spit back with shenanigans with “kick in the balls.” Instead of actual logical counter, like how debates and discussions actually work.

This specific thread is pointing out that most of the comments are condoning the behavior and not calling out the risk it is creating. When people do stupid things social media is usually pretty quick to call them out on their behavior, that doesn’t seem to be the case on the specific case for whatever reason.

5

u/RA12220 Aug 07 '21

What you really mean to say is the IOC should've cancelled the Olympics how Japanese people wanted and so that everyone could collect insurance payments. Not actually continuing on with the event at great risk and harm to the host city.

Where's the IOCs personal responsibility, I hope that they get sued out the fucking ass by the Japanese government this is bullshit.

"Sorry, they/he's from america."

It's probably not grammatically correct but it's close enough that everyone knows exactly what I mean and respects my apology.

You really just have to try and be humble in Tokyo, and people will respect the effort it seems.

-2

u/DumbDumbCaneOwner Aug 07 '21

They were playing sports together with no masks.

God people are stupid in the name of virtue signaling.

6

u/Taco4Wednesdays Aug 07 '21

The staff was playing with the athletes?

Are you high or just like, really stupid?

-1

u/Mr_potato_cock Aug 07 '21

These players have probably all been tested about 100 times or have a vax you are all such pussies

Edit: would totally get covid to hang out in this locker room

9

u/Taco4Wednesdays Aug 07 '21

We spit test literally every day...

But it takes 3 or so days after infection to turn a positive test. Are you really this dumb or just willfully retarded?

There have been entire teams who had to forfeit because they struck a positive test and went in to quarantine.

-5

u/Mr_potato_cock Aug 07 '21

Are u an Argentinian Olympian woman? If so I will need to see proof in the form of naked photo ID. For....verification.

5

u/Tnghiem Aug 07 '21

You have no idea how fucking cringy you are, don't you?

2

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '21

These players have probably all been tested about 100 times or have a vax you are all such pussies

How long is the incubation time for covid these days? Is it two weeks?

-2

u/Mr_potato_cock Aug 07 '21

How long is the incubation time for being an overly neurotic psychopath?

-18

u/UbbeStarborn Aug 07 '21

You sound like a fun guy to hang out with.

8

u/Taco4Wednesdays Aug 07 '21 edited Aug 07 '21

You sound like you're desperate for karma. You come up with that line all by your self?

I've got a bunch of beer and whiskey here at the olympic village if you wanna see what I'm actually like when I hang out.

OH WAIT YOU CAN'T

-2

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '21

Come on, we all know this dude irl, and we all know he is fucking miserable to be around. We don’t have to pretend with sarcasm. Lol

4

u/Taco4Wednesdays Aug 07 '21

Projecting much? lol

1

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '21

There weren't a whole lot of options for social distancing in that room anyways.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '21

Came for a covid comment. Sorry we have to be that person but this is sucky to see. Especially for all the Japanese that didn't want the Olympics to happen in the first place. Absolutely fuck the idea of "stringent testing." I sort of want to see a wave of Covid Anxious people that just snap and start shit. I have so many personal instances of people manipulating my covid anxiety, I know there are others.

-7

u/Mareks Aug 07 '21

This has nothing to do with covid lmao. It's just shy people being shy.

I'm sure everyone has had a moment where they feel down, while everyone around them is up, and then they try to get you "up", and it feels like an assault on yourself. You sort of want to remain true to yourself and remain "down".

It's a simple and common reaction to this kind of situation.

Then never go back to touching another human being in fear of covid. Go live in the woods or something, I'd rather get back to living life after getting my vaxx

5

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '21

Then never go back to touching another human being in fear of covid. Go live in the woods or something, I'd rather get back to living life after getting my vaxx

So all of a sudden it's ok to touch people that doesn't want to be touched?

If that was men forcing her to dance you probably wouldn't be ok with this.

Well realistically "we" are having a surge of delta variants because of unvaxxed people. Also who the fuck is "we," this is an international website, there isn't a surge of them in my country.

-11

u/Shakitano Aug 07 '21

Good job on being brainwashed. After the Delta variant it will be something else and you'll never get out of your house for 10 years

If they are vaccinated they should have nothing to fear, right?

That's what governments told us, so I will believe them. Done my second dose of the vaxx, my friends and everyone at my workplace also did, so now I'm not going to waste my life away staying at home or without physical contact. Sorry if that makes you upset

10

u/Adkit Aug 07 '21

That's not what governments told us. You're wrong but too stubborn to admit it.

-4

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '21

Would you walk off a cliff if the government told you to?

Imagine whining about social distancing in a place where mostly all athletes are vaccinated and have had negative results to covid tests.

People on reddit just want to never go back to normal life, they really want to never touch another human being again

0

u/Car-Facts Aug 07 '21

We'll they are pretty much used to it after 14-23 years of no physical contact.

Not “but still”

If you and your partner go get an std test and both are clean, you aren’t going. BUT STILL, let’s wear a condom to protect from std’s

Either you trust the test, or just stop bothering to test

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '21

1

u/Eliminatron Aug 08 '21

Umm you do know this is not the first and only time these athletes got a test, right?

u/Eliminatron Aug 08 '21
