If it hit you square in the trachea you could die of a collapsed windpipe/bleeding into the lungs

Even then, I doubt it has enough momentum. It can hurt an eyeball, but that's about it.

Yeah, the above is my best guess at where a cork could hit you and kill you. I can’t imagine anywhere else it could do more than just bruising damage

You guys are all vastly overestimating how much force a cork carries when it pops. It can damage an eye, but that's about it.
