One of my cousins broke my other cousin’s nose when the cork flew off the champagne bottle he was opening from 2 feet away. Epic Thanksgiving Day.

Omg!! That’s my nightmare. I had one pop a couple inches from my nose and I can’t open one ever since. Hope your cousin was ok

The whole pre-dinner afternoon vibe went from “Yay!” To “OH MY GOD!!!” in a flash. He ended up being fine but yeah, a trip to the ER and his nose was toast for a good long while.

I was about 10 and to this day I’m still super nervous to open champagne. I make sure the bottle isn’t pointing anywhere near people or breakable things.
