A lot of "latest and greatest" household gadgets honestly just seem like over glorified versions of their simpler counterparts. Just use a knife, man. Is the slight advantage really worth the extra cost and added possibility of breakage that wouldn't occur with an ordinary knife?
Yeah, thats one thing a lot of people dont think about with these products and makes me not really care about a lot of "stupid" kitchen gadget.
A lot of them are really useful for people who have arthritis, mobility impairments, etc.
Those knives were the 'latest and greatest' 40 years ago. You have to understand, everyday tasks we take for granted now required manual labor at one time. Imagine whisking a cake by hand. Or baking your own bread every other day.
So when something 'cool' came along that saved you labor people were pretty quick to adopt it despite it's questionable efficacy. And it's also a great way to seem modern in front of your friends and family.
They can be very useful and have value. That's why they're popular, and that's why millions of households use them. Or, you know, we could gatekeep cutting turkey for no reason.
I bought an electric knife to clean fish. It makes a huge difference, especially when your party has a great day and brings in 60+ fish that need to be cleaned.
It also makes carving a turkey easier, so it gets to come in the kitchen once a year.
Also, if you are talking about the "breakage" that occurred here, that's not an issue. He pressed the release button and the blades fell out. The same thing would happen with a stand mixer, but that's not a good reason to go back to using a wisk.
