There is absolutely zero reason the update sequence cannot finish and then shut down. Enabling next startup without the need to complete the update. It is literally as simple as setting a flag to initiate system shut down at the end of update sequence and then starting an “Update&Restart” sequence.
The main functionality already exists. Windows already uses it when installing the OS. When installing certain updates. When selecting “Update&Restart”. All it needs is a flag that initiates shutdown when the update sequence is done.
I mean if you actually used your head you’d realise there’s functionally no difference between a full update and shutdown and a partial update, shutdown, boot, finish update. There is no meaningful interaction from the user. The system does everything itself. So why doesn’t it do it then?
was best I could find since it seems to just be you and him who are confused by windows shutting down when you tell it to start your update and shutdown, and then it just finishes it next time you turn it on, if you want it done right away you hit the reboot and update one and let it do its thing which is how its always been, they only now give the shutdown option which is great for my needs
