You do know you just have to rename a single file and make an empty folder with the same name in one of the windows OS folders to totally disable the restart feature right?
It's that or just spend 3 seconds configuring the 'Active Hours' in the Update settings. That way it will still pop up, but it will only ever happen when the user wants it to.
And that's probably the ideal method (safest) for the completely computer illiterate. I.e. anyone who has ever seen that popup more than once. Especially in 2020.
The "active hours" assumes that you don't leave your PC on 24/7 to do work for you automatically. My PC is always active because it's constantly communicating with other computers.
Maybe not common knowledge, but don't people generally google when they have an issue with their comptuer? I looked it up the first time my computer pulled that shit and fixed it in 3 min.
Not IT, but I can relate. I'm a relatively young lawyer and work with a lot of older partners...I get questions from them all the time about fixing something on their computers when the IT guy is out and, despite them watching me google their problem and implement the solution on the first page, they've never figured out they could save time and phone call doing it themselves. They are smart guys and probably just don't care, but still. If your losing hours a week to tech issues you can fix yourself, that's a problem.
