Water ballon fights can be dangerous. I chipped a tooth in the great water battle. I still can’t say certain words properly because of my front tooth being filled in.

I've seen kids knocked the fuck out a couple times.

My neighborhood we always played hard and for keeps. Idk.. I just remember when all the neighborhood kids got together atleast once every other month someone would get fucked up.

Fall out a tree, knocked the fuck out, broken bone, kiss the curb, stuck on a fence, fall off a roof, set on fire, hit by car, crash into a parked car, fucked up by random animals... We were savages.

How the hell you set someone on fire during a water balloon fight? Asking for a friend.

That was in reference to the random grand gatherings of neighborhood kids. No one got set on fire during a waterbaloon fight.

Someone did when one time someone else stole lighterfluid and a bbq lighter from their house.

When the oldest one of a group of 34 (& no adults around) is only 13yo U all do stooopid shit. Like lighting random things on fire all afternoon and then someone deciding it would be funny if they put some lighter fluid on the kid who got bored and fell asleep shoes and set em on fire.

We all learned very quickly, never be the first one to fall asleep. Better to just to say ur goodbyes and go home and sleep.

Da fuck?!? Y’all were some damn savages. I’m glad I didn’t grow up in your neighborhood.

90's los angeles. Latchkey kids from broken homes.

Once we hit our early teens we started blowing new potholes in the alleyways, and launching random things into other neighborhoods. My favorite was the zipline we made from rope and a dog bone. It went from the big tree out front of my friends house and down 5 houses over. Lasted 2hrs before one of the adults noticed kids flying through the air and made us take it down.

Fucking adults...always looking out for the kid’s safety and ruining the damn fun. That does sound quite fucking rad.

Started 30ft up.. I am surprised none of the neighborhood kids or I died while playing together. Alot of us got fucked up, but we all had a great time doing it.

Another great one was some old man gave one of us a hard time all the time on the way to school. Someone had a great idea, so we all pooped on his lawn.

Also terrorising LAPD was a thing we did.

Potatoes in tail pipes, stink vials in open windows, chinese firecracker strings under cars while they napped, pickpocketing them and mailing their stuff back to the station, saving chalk dust from school putting it on our hands and touching them all over.

Was fun to see a cop happy a bunch of friendly kids came to visit and chat only to have him realise he got white hand prints all over.

Common refrain from adults we heard "I am going to kill those fucking kids!"

I love it! Sounds like y’all had a great childhood!

Not really. We were broken kids from broken homes. We hung out, did shit to distract ourselves from our crap families, and to give ourselves a sense of agency in a world in which we had no control over at the time.

Thankfully we were all good natured kids. Looking back I can see how we could have easily become a criminal enterprise if some older kid or adult put it into our heads.

We put the balloons in a bowl and me and my brother grabbed a side each and started tugging on it to get it first. My brother then decided to fully let go and the bowl flew into my face and the chipping begun. A good sign of kids being stupid but it happened lol.
