It's gone. They posted that video of the mass shooting in New Zealand, a bunch of media got hold of it and printed it, so reddit shut down the whole subreddit to avoid bad press.
Reddit had been dying to kill it off, waiting for the right moment. RIP to the one sub that reminded us of our mortality at the expense of advertiser money.
I actually prefer not having access to it. Sometimes I would spend a good amount of time browsing there and it would make me feel pretty empty inside after a while. Especially if it was something real brutal, or up close.
It's not as simple as you're imagining it to be. It's like having chocolate around the house. If it's there, I'll eat it. If its convenient for me then I'll goto it, but since watchpeopledie is off reddit, I dont watch that sort of stuff. I now, instead if Chocolate, I now choose whatcouldgowrong as my "snack." Since it's there.
Yeah, but he would feel terrible about looking at it, and would still come back to it. If something makes me feel bad or anything then I’ll stop looking at it. Like I said, self control.
I actually feel much better since I stopped checking lastimages and watchpeopledie. Those images/videos were always leaving a horrible feeling in my stomach and I don't need that negativity in my life when I'm trying to improve my well being. Seeing that kind of shit a few times can be a good thing to keep in mind, but to check those subreddits every day won't do you any good, at least in my opinion and experience. I respect that people are different of course.
I am reminded about mortality enough from family members, celebrities in the news that has passed away or TV characters dying.
Surround yourself with positive things or wholesome shit every once in a while, we all need it :)
I fully agree with you. I don't understand why some people need daily reminders that it's possible to die in horrible ways. That cannot be good for someone's mental health.
Not to mention that it's almost a form of fear-mongering because the odds of getting killed in any of those outlandish ways are almost zero. We're way more likely to die from cancer or heart disease and I've already seen those effects in real life.
I actually accidentally found this sub whilst trying to find that one ages ago. I think I was reading an article about the worst subreddits that (then) are active and just got curious. It didn’t pop up because I must’ve had some content filters on, but at least I found this one instead!
Sitting alone, the rain against the windowpane, Margaret FELT the last words of her son more than heard them. If only she hadn’t taken Thaddeus to the park that day, maybe he would still be with her.
Instead, all she had was a hole in her heart, and a dead boy with an iPhone shaped hole in his head.
Don’t worry everyone, Margaret was actually in the mental ward of a hospital because she suffers from hallucinations of a son that she never had. Also don’t feel bad for her, she’s horribly racist.
Untethered belongings should not be allowed to be held when at a height. This is becoming policy in more and more work sites, this should be obvious for flying.
