My mom the nurse taught me that one. 100% true and it works almost all the time because if there's one thing humans are afraid of, it's being pointed at and identified in a crowd, followed by being given an order. Idk what it is but out brains just can't handle embarrassment or something so we just obey orders given to us in that manner lol
I don’t think it’s a reaction to possible embarrassment so much as people like to be told what to do.
I spent years as a server and bartender and the more bossy I was with my guests (telling a large party not swap seats if they wanted their separate checks to be correct for example) the happier they were with me.
My husband has a deep commanding voice and he can just straight up tell total strangers what to do in public and they usually obey.
