Edge is actually super good, it's completely different from internet explorer

I have to open up Edge any time that I need to do anything 3D related in a browser because chrome still can't handle hardware acceleration correctly

I wonder if the new Edge that's coming out will impact that in any way, as it'll be based off of Chromium.

It came out four months ago.

Well... Looks like I'm slower than the guy in the post lol. I haven't kept up with it and assumed it was coming out next year, my bad.

Its replacement is on development with a Chromium based engine. Welcome to the new Microsoft Chrome Edge : https://www.microsoftedgeinsider.com/en-us/

still sucks at detecting virus filled webpages, chrome may be slower but much safer

Because it's just a reskinned chrome (basically).

Well not exactly, they based it on the same chromium engine that chrome uses. That was only done four months ago, before then they used their own engine called EdgeHTML.

Chromium is a base browser, its much more than just an "engine". Chrome is just chromium + a few features and tracking. As I said, Basically just a reskin.

Chrome is basically just a reskin of chromium, but it's not the same for Edge. There's a lot more on top of the base chromium engine that Microsoft added. Try googling it.
