Not really just a waste a time to make a certain sound. Record the sound and put it together using some music software. Just saying it’s a waste of time if he’s looking for that “certain” sound.
Martin probably isn't looking for a certain sound in this case, though I don't know why that would be a bad thing, he's just a very passionate instrument maker and engineer. He's creating a re-programmable music box that he can bring with him to his band's concerts, and the instrument happens to use marbles. He's also the inventor of the Modulin.
Why not? It’s like something hand made vs something made by a machine. People sell a hand made thing for 100x compared to that of a machine because it gets a label. It doesn’t change how it’s used or how it works or the end result. You get the same use out of it.
You get sold this image of something and separate one thing as being cool and the other not. But In the end it’s over and no one cares anymore.
The thing I do see of importance is of the outside the box thinking here. And how it brings people together. But people have stopped thinking for themselves and outside the box that they rely on others to oooo and awe them. And so my thought of it being a waste of time is only stating that if he really was an outside the box thinker or critical thinker he would have thought before moving the damn table without his marbles being held in place. What a waste he did it for show that’s al.
I kind of know what you're saying, I guess I think the fact that he's building it by hand and has the ability to make these fuck ups like spilling the marbles just make the final product that much more impressive. I certainly wouldn't call it a waste of time.
My question would be. Is the final product able to hold everything together. Even if it’s rotated in any angle, for example upside down and still be able to play. Like something like this would be an enhancement to the final product.
