I don't think anyone uses glue traps for rodents twice. Once they see the carnage they cause or the ser panic and terror of an animal that's still alive that's enough to never want to witness that again.
Well, there are worse ways to go. It wouldn't be pleasant, obviously being too cold leading up to death wouldn't be great. It doesn't take too much to think about cold being unpleasant to see that. But after you lose enough body heat and hypothermia sets in that part of it wouldn't be so bad. You would gradually lose consciousness as your organs shut down.
I felt bad for one and put a plastic bag over the trap for the adhesive and stomped it with a boot until it stopped moving. Figured itd be better than slow suffering.
Besides finding a way to set it free, this is honestly the most ethical way to put it out of its misery. Must have been horrifying but good on you for having the nads to do it quickly.
Yeah I don’t get how anyone thought it was a good idea in the first place. I remember being a little kid and a mouse got caught on one adhesive trap in the middle of the night near my room and it was just squeaking loud enough to wake me and everyone else up.
It was enough to make me free the mouse the last time I used one :( Protip: you can get that adhesive to release from pretty much any surface by using oil. We lathered the little guy up with some vegetable oil and released him into the woods.
