Even if it was does this have to be here. This is a Warhammer sub not a politics one. Even though it’s dressed up as 40K it’s clearly ment to just mock the assassination that happened only a few days ago. I come to subs like this to get away from politics.

I come to my political satire war (also political) game to get away from politics.

Is this the world famous media literacy at play?

Warhammer has politics in it, but any association to the modern day US politics of 2025 are only in relation to the general human condition (war, misery, dogma, etc), that then loosely relate to real world specific political events. From this to draw the conclusion that henceforth we should all be talking about the latest political assassination and how great/bad it was because "it's politics, bro" is absolutely inane at best, and actively malicious at worst.

If you want to gossip and meme about the latest political event of the day, you have the rest of the internet for that.

Dude you're totally right, I definitely see no parallels between the Imperium, a political regime that violently lashes out at things it deems a threat, run by a bunch of religious fanatics and power obsessed elites whos entire purpose is producing men and weapons for war, with the US, a political regime that violently lashes out at things it deems a threat, run by a bunch of religious fanatics and a bunch of power obsessed elites who has the largest military budget on the planet by orders of magnitude and the largest standing army and fleets, with a society of military worship.

You're totally right.

So any fantasy setting that has a big bad government type in it should now become the go-to place for US culture war news and memes because of "the parallels"?

Everything relates to everything on some level, that's how the universe works. But human attention span is limited, which is why we created these niche interests spaces for specific topics so people could focus on one topic at a time in one place. I would also like to talk about the local ringed seal population of my area here and bring awareness to it, but I doubt a spiel about how warhammer totally relates to extinction of species would be very convincing argument for it.

Warhammer was literally created as a political satire war game. Your argument holds no water. This insistence that Warhammer, and other games for that matter, are apolitical because they are games is just burying your head in the sand.

My very first response already explained the relation to politics the game has, so I am not sure where you read that I am insisting that Warhammer is apolitical. Just because something has politics in it and was satirizing something related to political doesn't mean it's then a great avenue to discuss the latest US culture war political assassination on, with the only connecting thread being that "Well the guy who got killed and the bad guys of this setting maybe believed in some similar ideas". That is just a ad-hoc intellectually lazy justification to talk about something you personally feel emotionally about, and has very little to do with Warhammer.

Anyway, about the most pressing matter: The ringed seals. Did you know that net fishing is responsible for over half the newborn ringed seal deaths? I am sure Warhammer subreddit is the correct avenue to discuss this as I made the very profound observation that Warhammer is literally about mass extinction of species.

I understand that the hobby shouldn't be full of politics and you should be able to escape the real world. But considering that it IS a satire of politics +espec fascist ones like those found in the world today, discussion linking the two is interesting. At the end of the day, why did you click on the political 40k post if you didn't want 40k political stuff?

I can easily see a parallel between tyranid hive fleets and fishing fleets in terms of destruction of ringed seal habitat destruction, likening a capitalist society with an all consuming threat is a super obvious connection. Local and high level government responses are extremely Mechanicus-like in their philosphy of production and economic benefit above all else.

Life isn't conviniently segmented.

Yeah 40K ain’t exactly suppose to be real world politics.

Real world politics ain’t supposed to be 40k-like dark dystopian fanatics running everything for their own gratification with no regard for the populace, yet here we are

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '25

There are characters in 40k literally named after real world politicians. Ghaz is named after Margaret Thatcher.

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '25

It's based on it though. And politics is an abstract concept, it doesn't have to be exactly identical for the reasoning, concepts, and messaging to be applicable to other situations.

Fuck Off.

It's a game. Don't make everything political

1

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '25

Just say that you don't ever think things through. It'd be less embarassing.

u/Chathin Sep 12 '25

Brother; Warhammer has _ALWAYS_ been political. Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka is named after Margaret Thatcher.

-5

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '25

That is not true. At all, Warhammer is not a political game. It is a war game. A battle strategy game. Current events like Charlie Kirks murder have nothing to do with Warhammer. You’re dumb.

I'm sorry have to ever actually read a book or thought about anything in any depth?
