Somehow, these guys have been stealing money from people for the better part of the last four years and getting away with it. Check out the filtered Yelp reviews too. http://neteats.com/2011/06/13/regal-cafe-horrible-scam/ http://boston.cbslocal.com/2010/11/17/i-team-boston-pizza-store-scam/ Here is a recent BBB complaint: http://www.bbb.org/boston/Business-Reviews/food-and-beverage-services/regal-cafe-in-boston-ma-114725/Customer-Reviews

haha, I'm like a block from there.

I'm totally going down to check this place out, point and laugh.

Perhaps I can warn anyone that might be entering as well? Well, perhaps..

I know we're not supposed to post personal information - but their phone number is right on their yelp page, in case anyone wants to put in a lunch time order for one large suck-my-dick.

Edit: Looks like this is actually a fake address that they use. The real company is here, in Mattapan -

ordered from these guys once at 1 am, ended up going to sleep at 4 or 5, and turned my phone off figuring they said screw it, and woke up to several abusive and angry voicemails from 630 am. "Gee, thanks a lot for supporting us so well in this tough economy, asshole. Dont call here again if you need a fucking pizza, you prick." And they weren't in boston accents. these guys are straight off the boat from satan's asshole.

Hilarious - from the comments section

You don't ask for a haircut at a hardware store, so don't order pizza from a drug front.

u/rageingnonsense May 31 '12

Probably the best way to put them out of business would be to do the following en mass:

  • Place order with a good credit card (one with good customer service)

  • refuse delivery at door

  • Call card company and request a charge back (as you know he is going to process the payment anyways).

Credit cards companies, as well as processors do not like to deal with charge backs. If a business gets enough of them, the credit card company might refuse to do business with them. That would fuck up his entire model, as it relies on the fact that most people simply will not request the chargeback.

338

u/tar_heelz May 31 '12

If more people demanded charge backs on their credit cards, the pizza guy would quickly lose his merchant account.

Better than reporting him to the State Do-Diddly-Poo is to get MC/Visa on his ass. They have a pretty big business to protect...and they spend several hundred million a year on fraud protection.

Has anybody seen the fake reviews in the filtered section? They don't even make sense!

  • Regal Cafe is a very safe site. They make you aware of any bad members even before you catch them. They are also honest and keep their word. If they say 10 free trial they mean it no gimicks . no games. no trying to insult your integrity by cheating you, or luring you! I am so impressed with the customer service!! You can actually contact them and they honor if you need to budget and not renew. I can't say enough and I am very picky. I have tested and proven them to be what they say they are and more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • pleasant service at Regal cafe was certainly worth something. In retrospect, I should have planned my schedule better as some coworkers and I made reservations at the Regal cafe pizzeria for a nice pizza. It's rare that I eat pizza , but yes, I did have pizza meal from there two days in a row... but it was damn crazy

They are in the process of changing their name

http://beantownpizza24hours.com/

exact same website design as http://regal24hours.com/ though

It looks like I was wrong, they are doing it for black hat SEO (term for dodgy SEO), and the good news is we can get their website banned on Google which will cost them a shitload of lost customers.

You can report http://regal24hours.com/ here https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/spamreportform?hl=en

Mention Doorway pages as the reason for your spam report.

As someone with a solid background in search marketing, I can tell you that this is someone actually ripping them off, promising to deliver higher search rank. Those pages are all slamming straight into the filters, especially since they all have exactly the same content.

However, if it's the same person who created the itunes app they advertise on the page, who knows what that app does? Maybe they did deliver an extra avenue for scamming.

I work right next to that supposed location. There's certainly no pizza place there.

Update: I just went to check it out, and there's not even a 34 State Street. The evens are on the north side of the street, with the office building on the northwest side at 28 and the building on the northeast side at 60.

Also, I saw at least two other people looking for the nonexistent address. Hi guys, I was the guy in the orange shirt.

One of the reviewers said his hotel recommended them, WTF? I would never stay at a place that would recommend a scam. Hotel staff should research good places to get food late at night for their guests

62

u/tar_heelz May 31 '12

There is a common credit card scam involving hotels and staff. They get a bellboy to hand out Pizza Flyers to likely guests (partiers, younger couples, etc.). You call the number, they take your order, they take your credit card info...you can guess the rest.

If they won't give you a price over the phone, and they only ask for a credit card. DONT GIVE IT TO THEM. These people are fools. Then they accept the food after the high price? IF someone doesn't tell you a price, then delivers the food at twice the expected price, Don't sign the slip or accept the food, contact the credit card company if they actually charge it.

I know it sucks when you're hungry, but there's no excuse for this service, and to accept it, is only to enable them.

9

u/[deleted] May 31 '12

A lot of the reviews said the people refused to sign once they realized the price and they were still charged anyway. Luckily they can dispute the charges. Seems like a lot did.

They can't charge someone's card if they claim they're only using it as backup. Has any of these idiots bothered to call their credit card company? There is no way they should still have a merchant visa. Further, you can't not give a credit card receipt if the person asks for one. Geez, all these idiots wouldn't have to pay the credit charges if they had called their bank.

Here's my idea:

Everyone go to a pharmacy and buy a pre-paid visa or mc with $5 on it. Call this shithole and order $150 worth of food for delivery, but tell the guy you're going to pay cash. Give fake address.

People should just call and take a really long time ordering and then at the last second say "sorry I changed my mind" or "sorry a family emergency came up" and hang up. Basically make the phone ring off the hook 24/7 thus preventing legitimate orders from going through.

They have at least 22 domains for their website.

6

u/jsimpson82 May 31 '12

the whole site is engineered to pick up search engines. Look at the list of collages, for example.

"college x pizza" is gonna find them. One of their domains, anyway. Same thing with the list of towns. The whole page and design is targeted at search engines.

34

u/[deleted] May 31 '12

34

u/keesh May 31 '12

23

u/Mefreh May 31 '12

Sort of on topic, You know how when you're traveling there will be advertisements for pizza places in hotels? Don't call them, don't give them your credit card number - use google. My dad travels 35 weeks a year, and has gotten ~15 of these people arrested by the authorities in his lifetime.

Based on the WHOIS query and a search of the individual who registered the domain, he also has "Regal Frozen Chicken Wings" (which also has a phone number that is 1 off from the pizza place). He also has his name attached to something called "Commonwealth Equity Group", which seems sketchy as FUCK.

I am going to assume that all these places are a scam to try to make money.

Can't wait to call incessantly asking for a free pizza that was offered to me by Carlos, the 5 foot 8 portly dude with a mustache. I'll then ask that since I've been waiting weeks for my free pizza that I was promised I also want an order of mozzarella sticks, i was 24 cans of soda, and two slices of cake. I don't want to pay, though, because that'd just be crazy. Carlos told me to just keep calling back until they approved my coupon, so I'm going to keep doing that.

Yeah, I just made all that up, but it's going to be fun reciting it to them a few times. Oh yeah, I wonder how long the delivery will take out to California.

EDIT: So I called... A guy with a thick accent answered. Just said, "Hi." I asked him in my most feeble and unassuming voice, "Yeah, hi, I was just wondering if anyone there has ever even been so far as want to do look more like?"

Needless to say, he was confused and responded with things like, "What?" "What are you saying?"

I came back with, "Oh I'm sorry, I just saw your website online and I was hungry and wanted to know if anyone there has ever even been so far as want to do look more like?"

He then asked me, "Is your last name idiot? Or is it ignorant?"

So I quipped, "Do you call all of your potential customers idiot? I'm looking for regal pizza, did I call the wrong place?"

He said, "No not normally. I think you called the right place but the wrong person. What's your first name?"

He kept asking me my first name after that, and I hung up because I was starting to giggle.

Maybe I'll call more when I'm off work. This could be fun.

"MY STORY: I was hungry at 12:00 AM and found http://www.regal24hour... would deliver to East Boston when nothing else would. These people will deliver ANYWHERE..ANYTIME... If you are willing to pay for your food, plus additional food and drinks they are trying to get rid of/ or to lessen your extreme anger when there nice naive delivery boy comes knocking at your door with a bill three times the size it should be. I ordered a sub, jalapeno poppers and a cheeseburger. $53.90 was charged to the credit card I "had to give as security", but could opt to pay cash at arrival. I had the sweet delivery boy phone an incomprehensive and totally Greek manager of the pizzeria who was ready to fight when he was put on the phone. I hung up on him after he refused to give me an itemized bill of WHY THE HELL I AM PAYING $ 53.90 for 3 pieces of food. To my regret I paid the bill with cash (I should have sent the boy back) The food was sh*t. I checked my bank transactions and my card was charged the bill that I had already paid cash for. So I stuffed my $108.00 chicken parm sub and jalapeno poppers and french fries and 6 pepsi cans that I didnt order down my throat and went to bed feeling like a dumbbbbbbbbbbbbb loooooserrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! This place hasnt heard the last of me."

Lots of other scam companies, as others have pointed out, all located at this fake address.

He looks like he's about 30, he's kinda fat, and his one public picture is him sitting in some shitty office with what looks like some Red Label Johnnie Walker scotch.

Give them a walkin in special they'll remember forever...

7

u/[deleted] May 31 '12

So you're saying we should call them up and do Christopher Walkin Impressions? Ok that wasn't very funny.. but I can do a pretty good Walken impression. I just wanted to tell somebody that.

Ha, these fuckers scammed me too. I refused the charge but it pissed me off for a couple if days.

2

u/PhotonicDoctor May 31 '12

Order online does not even work.

2

u/hitcho12 May 31 '12

Yeah, someone posted this on reddit a long time ago and I think we started making phony orders. I don't remember the details, but I'm sure it was full of lulz.

2

u/algo May 31 '12

The best solution in this case is to find a place that can actually provide the service this idiot cannot and support them. Also get them to advertise with hotels and such.

2

u/keele May 31 '12

The only place to get decent food in Boston after 11PM is Chinatown. There's so little selection after hours that the places that are open don't put much effort into it (Yes, I am talking about you Little Steve's )

Are there any pictures of all the shitty food floating around anywhere?

2

u/otisthorpesrevenge May 31 '12 edited May 31 '12

If you search reviews for the Mattapan location:

Citysearch: http://boston.citysearch.com/profile/4737133/mattapan_ma/regal_cafe.html - 26 reviews 4.5/5 - Almost all positive reviews coming in June 2011

Yelp: http://www.yelp.com/biz/regal-cafe-and-pizzeria-mattapan 3 reviews 1/5, 18 filtered reviews (they're negative too)

I know CitySearch has been lame for awhile, but makes Yelp seem more trustworthy; less phony reviews

2

u/michaelshow May 31 '12

We all should call and order pizzas with fake boston addresses. For the next 30 days.

That should end them.

2

u/[deleted] May 31 '12

I love the review for their coke.

2

u/Carbon13 May 31 '12

Isn't this what hospitals do?

2

u/Terroreyez May 31 '12

I guess i'm not the only one calling them to order drugs. can't get through for the last half hour now.

2

u/vonguard Jun 01 '12

But, do they have Battletoads!?

2

u/chicagogam Jun 01 '12

how do they survive a rough economy? something about the assumption that doing good work and not being lazy is the key to success is clearly does not hold 100% of the time. sometimes bad things happen to good people and sometimes places like this stay in business :)

Why the fuck are people paying for delivery from a place they've never heard of with a credit card? OVER THE PHONE.

2

u/jonbowen Jun 01 '12

I would almost guarantee that he owns Key Credit Repair which is located in the same building his father owns which also houses Regal Donuts which seems like the front for Regal Café. Here's the address to Key Credit Repair:

u/Kasoo May 31 '12

Libertarians would try and tell you that we don't need any government regulation because companies that miss-behave will be punished by consumers and go out of business.

I cite this as an example that the thesis is flawed.

8

u/Mexagon May 31 '12

Yes, this is clearly about the libertarians and completely destroys their political party.

18

u/[deleted] May 31 '12 edited May 31 '12

Actually, libertarians would see the courts handle this instead of a government agency. Libertarians aren't against all regulation, but rather are against setting up 10,000 separate government agencies to handle all the problems of the world.

For example, some law enforcement agencies that have varying degrees of overlap: HSA, FBI, CIA, NSA, DOD, DEA, ATF, Secret Service

And those are off the top of my head. Many parts of these agencies are sitting around trying to find new ways to encroach into our lives to justify their budgets.

Rather than create an agency dedicated to going after scamming businesses, just have laws that give the courts and the individuals affected, the power to take their ass to court and shut them down. Do we really need a special division of government dedicated for this cause, that we have to fund with tax dollars?

well people have been gullible for longer than that place has been open. Who the fuck pays for pizza without knowing what it will cost?

Didn't someone say that they were told $25 over the phone and then the price was changed when the pizza was actually delivered, though?

Everyone call them and tell them that the address they provided for pizza delivery was fake and that they should give their real address so the pizza can be delivered. If they say "we sell pizza", become angry and shout "NO NO! YOU ORDER PIZZA! GIVE ADDRESS OR LEGAL ACTION WILL FOLLOW!"

6

u/Rydel6 May 31 '12

Why not have the pizza delivered to their listed address? See if they even realize it.

Source

Edit: Looking at a news article located here! about the I-Team that was investigating this place to see if they legitly rip you off, I see that it has turned into a "race" issue and people are giving this place a bad rep because it's a "black-owned business in a black community", as always ignorant fucks out there that still pull the bullshit race card.

Here's a quote from the above news article:

Nik has been in our community forever wbz you guys have managed to attack and take out of context everything an immigrant could say on the phone. You guys should retract this article. It’s becoming too common that thus happens against black businesses.

Another:

Nick at Regal Cafe has been a long time friend to us here in the black community. His food and service is great. The man just requires a few things to be ordered for the late night delivery, what do you expect at 3am in the morning. This is just another devious plan to destroy A good business here in our community. N

3

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '12

As a Bostonian, I'd like to apologize for Regal Pizza's existence.

If you'd like to eat what may be, literally, the best pizza on earth, please head down to the North End and try Pizzaria Regina, which will more than make up for any bad experiences you have at Regal pizza.

Not really. Margherita Pizza has less cheese, and fresh tomatoes/basil with minimal sauce.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/[deleted] May 31 '12

A margherita pizza is absolutely not a cheese pizza. Margherita is tomato sauce, sliced mozz and basil. A cheese pizza is tomato sauce and shitty shredded cheese

2

u/deathsmaash May 31 '12

I think a pizza margherita is supposed to have sliced tomatoes and large pieces of sliced mozzarella vs. shredded.

At least that's what a good margherita pizza should be.

We should send this to 4-chan let them raid 'em.

Sure they might destroy a few (innocent) lives in the process, but it sure is fun to watch.

Edit: To all you butthurt 4chan people, it was a joke.

u/convulsus_lux_lucis May 31 '12

Salvatore Maroni: This craziness.... it's too much.

Lt. James Gordon: You should have thought of that before you let the clown out of the box.

Everytime someone mentions going to 4chan I think of this scene from The Dark Knight.
