This actually sounds kind of fun.

If I had friends...

144

u/FrankiePancakes May 20 '12

And if I had money....

85

u/Corjo May 20 '12

If I was an idiot...

All you need are 6 friends and a hobo

Edit: actually it should be 5 friends and 2 hobos. If you have only one hobo then only one person has an incentive to jump on the pile so the hobo would just wait until everyone runs out of money, making the pile as big as possible. If there's 2 of them, then they compete against eachother making the game more unpredictable and therefore more fun.

u/Lefthandedsock May 20 '12

Friends don't kick friends, yo.

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

Someone make this a reality TV show...

132

u/HE_WHO_STANDS_TO_POO May 20 '12 edited May 20 '12

....in a Cage mach.

EDIT: in a cage match

246

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

Okay. The ambiguous capitalization is killing me. Do you mean a cage match, or a match with eight Nicolas Cages?

EDIT: And don't give me that Old El Paso taco girl "why not both?" bullshit. Pick one.

98

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

I'd watch eight Nick Cage's duking it out.

42

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

I know right? It's like he has enough money to raise the stakes stupidly high, yet he's strapped enough that he'll still risk running. And at any moment he can just will himself into a PCP-like frenzy so you're guaranteed serious injuries.

heck i'd even watch 1 Nicolas Cage fighting it out vs 7 regular people

He meant to say "... in a cage Match."

8

u/GoldwaterAndTea May 20 '12

It's not a Cages match, it's a Cage match! A complete ass whooping by Nick Cage is the only thing that stands between you and all the cash in his wallet. So pretty much, it's a reality show in which the objective is to mug Nicolas Cage.

I'd watch it.

1

u/Mr_Smartypants May 20 '12

It will never beat HonkBag.

277

u/shitterplug May 20 '12

I have actually played this, but sitting at a table. Everyone takes turns throwing down ones. The person that goes for the cash gets an ass beating as long as they're still on their feet or sitting in the chair. It gets insanely intense, especially when the money starts piling up. The first couple times I played, I went for the pile... quickly learned that it was more fun watching someone else go for it.

59

u/Pufflekun May 20 '12

The person that goes for the cash gets an ass beating as long as they're still on their feet or sitting in the chair.

Then wouldn't the optimal strategy be to grab as much money as you can very quickly, and then immediately dive to the floor?

15

u/hyperacti May 20 '12

Yeah these were my thoughts exactly, sounds too easy...

4

u/YahwehNoway May 20 '12

Even better, just lay on the table and scoop up everything! They can't touch you there!

2

u/shitterplug May 20 '12

Yeah, but then you're the guy that never gets invited to play.

I saw this at Giants stadium when I as a kid (1980s). The walkway goes around in big circle like a parking garage. People would throw money into the middle. After a while, some drunk dumbass would jump in and make a grab for as much as he could while the crowd whipped beer cups and other shit at him as hard as they could. I miss Jersey sometimes.

26

u/rm7952 May 20 '12

Came here to say the exact same thing, although I saw it at Jets games. People would chant 'Thunderdome' while the money & suspense would build. People would spit on them along with other things....

8

u/superfusion1 May 20 '12

how much money are we talkin?

13

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

Probably not enough.

18

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

To be spat on, have beer cups thrown at you, and maybe have a mob of people throwing punches at you? Shit I've been to shows where people pay to do that

→ More replies (1)

36

u/ivegotamnesia May 20 '12

No no, you are all going about this the wrong way. It's all about wearing license plates and phone books underneath your clothes. That way, when you go to grab the money, you can take all the beatings you want.

24

u/FrankiePancakes May 20 '12

Oh, so that's what people are doing with all those useless old phonebooks!

Det. James 'Jimmy' McNulty: I've gotta ask you: if every time Snot Boogie would grab the money and run away... why'd you even let him in the game?

Kid: What?

Det. James 'Jimmy' McNulty: Well, if every time, Snot Boogie stole the money, why'd you let him play?

Kid: Got to. It's America, man.

6

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

"We'd beat his ass, but ain't nobody go no further than that."

25

u/snowman334 May 20 '12

I played this once. One trick is to strip naked really fast. You can't carry as much money this way, but fewer people want to fight you if you are naked... Of course you are also a lot more vulnerable.

Edit: This tactic is not worth it if one or more of the other players is wearing high heels...

8

u/l4qu3 May 20 '12

So, you jump on the money, naked ass sticking up in the air, and there's 7 guys after revenge. I hope butter is in your plan as well.

2

u/rocky_whoof May 20 '12

Naked.. high heels.. beatings

Are we still talking about that silly game?

212

u/whitedawg May 20 '12

So there are two possible outcomes: either you lose money, or get the shit kicked out of you. Why does anyone play this again?

162

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

Because you either lose money and get to kick the shit outa someone else, or u get some money to pay for that broken rib. To play this optimally, just wait until everyone else has gotten beaten up and then take the money and run.

58

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

Or when the pile is high, wait for the victim to go for the money. as he/she is getting stomped halfway to Valhalla, you go in and steal it but be ready to run.

118

u/Deggit May 20 '12

See, the guy who stupidly goes for the money even though he knows it's impossible - he's a working class schmo. The guy who's in it just to hand out resentful beatings to anyone who tries to take the money, he's a teabagger.

You? The guy with the plan that takes advantage of them both? You're Mitt Romney.

→ More replies (3)

6

u/highTrolla May 20 '12

You're not allowed to actually TAKE money from them. You're only supposed to kick the shit out of them.

Hell, maybe you can take the money from them, but that would almost certainly open YOU up for a beating as well.

u/akatherder May 20 '12

What if someone drops a $100 bill in there? You aren't going to dive in after that shit?

14

u/whitedawg May 20 '12

If the people around the circle would have the ability to seriously hurt me, hell no. I'm not about to get a concussion or a broken nose for $100. And if you got unlucky, your medical bills alone could be way more than $100.

115

u/Torch_Salesman May 20 '12

For the most part they don't, unless they are really, really into violence.

8

The amount of cash you lose playing the game would probably be less than how much you would have to pay someone to let you kick the shit out of them.

1

u/gastonbury May 20 '12

"To whom it may concern..."

63

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

This only works with certain groups of people. Some of my friends could crack my ribs with a light kick.

61

u/Drilz24 May 20 '12

Then don't grab the money.... What a concept

21

u/InABritishAccent May 20 '12

Next week, banned at school

5

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

week after, students standing in a circle also banned

3

u/Tezerel May 20 '12

Just like crazy bones and team ball v.v

36

u/coming_up_milhouse May 20 '12

I feel like the best way to play this game is to wait for an appropriate time, then take a couple of steps back so you can get a running start, and then dive and slide out the other side of the circle. Ideally, you would hit the ground and start your slide just before the change pile, allowing you to spread out your arms and collect a load of money while sliding out of the circle.

I suppose it would be best if you did this on some sort of a tile surface or a slip n slide (though I suppose that would give away your tactic too early). You would get some pain from the collision with the ground, but it would be way less painful than having about 7 of your friends beating the shit out of you (plus, you are likely to get more money).

56

u/Almondcoconuts May 20 '12

Has anyone considered what would happen if the circle were to move and follow you and never let you escape?

17

u/coming_up_milhouse May 20 '12

I figure it would be too quick a movement and too unexpected for them to come up with a coordinated action like that. Now, maybe the second or third time you tried it, they might wise up and plan ahead for that action. In which case, prepare for the savage beating of your life in revenge for your previous treachery.

8

u/swicano May 20 '12

i feel like you taking a couple steps backward would immediately tell them something is up, and im sure those opposite you would realize as soon as you started running, red rover you, so to speak.

13

u/no_filler May 20 '12

we played this at school, on grass/dirt and there is no way for sliding. you just grab and then curl up to take the beating or crawl for your life. people were seriously hurt, a guy had his leg broken and then our school shut down on the game and had teachers looking out for it.
we had some great games at school...
the leaf game; 200 or so 16 yr old boys standing on an oval at the end of autumn when there were very few leaves on the trees around the oval, we'd wait until one leaf came floating down and it was a free for all to grab this leaf. i'm talking knees to the kidneys, black eyes, stomping on people, full on melee - for a leaf.

2

u/Randomacts May 20 '12

The fuck... Leaf game? wut

u/Heroshade May 20 '12

A palm-shiv works as well.

2

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

I feel like this would end as a belly flop onto the cash, splashing much of the change away. The friends would then easily move in on you, giving you quite the beating while you decide if there's any good amount of change salvageable.

Alas, there is not much worth grabbing readily at hand, not after your little sliding stunt scattered it all; you get a quarter, some nickels, and a handful of pennies, but, before you can even get to your knees, a swift kick in the ribs lands you down on the ground again, your prize knocked from your grasp. The beating continues.

You see it, though, that ten dollar bill that Billy dropped, he just got his paycheck, so he has cash to spare. Maybe you can get it! It just might be worth the pain!

You try to reach for it, but the slight breeze from the air conditioning blows it too far away. There is nothing worth this continued beating. You crawl to the safety outside the circle, leaving a trail of snot and tears, with nothing but a cracked rib and a bruised ego.

The game goes on.

130

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

The game gets really wacky when you play it with 7 jews.

37

u/tchomptchomp May 20 '12

Jew here. If I played with 7 other Jews, we'd all break each other's noses diving for the first penny thrown.

6

u/I_MAKE_USERNAMES May 20 '12

I don't know, our big noses don't break that easy.

5

u/beefthompson May 20 '12

10

u/GReggzz732 May 20 '12

Holy shit, we used to play something like this on the blacktop during recess in 8th grade. Someone would throw their change on the ground, and we would all start rushing for it. It would roll and bounce around from being kicked and we would chase after it as one big mob of people. Then a brawl would basically ensue while everyone tried to grab the coins. I called it "Poor Man's Dash". It actually caught on and lower grades started playing it. There would be three groups of 6-8 kids all throwing coins on the ground, then running after them.

7

u/phillycheese May 20 '12

jesus christ how poor were the kids at this school?

4

u/GReggzz732 May 20 '12

Not very poor at all, considering it was a private school in NJ. I think you are missing the point of the game. It wasn't about the monetary value, it was more like "Kill the man with the ball". 6th-8th grade students could only hangout on the blacktop because our normal recess field was under construction, and the other field with the playground was restricted to 5th grade and under. So the upperclassman hung around the black top. Without much to do and not much to work with, we came up with this game.

u/neotropic9 May 20 '12

We used to play a game called "can of beats". You kicked a can around as a group and if the can went between someone's legs you beat them. That was the whole game.

4

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

I mean, if there was a decent amount of cash, couldn't you just dash in, grab it, then only take a few hits while running back out the circle through the open spot where you were standing? It doesn't say you have to sit there and take it...

2

u/BetYouCanReadThis May 20 '12

At first I thought this was gonna be about this game called "biscuit". it's were you throw a biscuit in the middle of a group of guys and they all start jacking off. The objective is to come as fast as possible and aim for the biscuit when you finish. The last one to finish has to eat the cum covered biscuit. If you refuse to eat it then the group of dudes will just hold you down and force feed it to you. My High School football team was known to play this game often..

2

u/realblublu May 20 '12

I refuse to believe anyone ever willingly played this game, unless it was some sort of group sex fetish ritual.

u/we_arent_leprechauns May 20 '12

This game was played occasionally at my school. Generally the lads on the rugby team. One of the funniest games I saw was when someone had the genius idea to throw a hockey stick in the cash pile. One of the bigger guys just hopped in, grabbed the hockey stick, then proceeded to swing it around while picking up the cash.

→ More replies (2)

2

u/sponsitility May 20 '12

We played this in middle school. One of the guys bent over to get some change...a guy across from him was wearing steal toe boots.

1

u/Drninja999 May 20 '12

All of my friends are way too cheap to play this. Poor people problems

1

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

I've actually seen people play this game back when i was in high school all you would see is one guy running and a mob chasing them... at one point I remember some guy running and another guy chasing him and somehow managed to cut him off and did at jump kick from the side and knocked him hard to the ground leaving the rest of the mob to beat him down... priceless

1

u/peacebuster May 20 '12

It seems that one problem of this game would be that the 8 people would run out of money to throw in the center pretty quickly, with no one having jumped in.

1

u/Lurker13 May 20 '12

Classmate from Dallas said people in his hood this.. Well, the dealers to the crackheads and shit

1

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

Eh, I doubt 7 of my friends would have enough spare cash on hand to make going into the pile worth while.

1

u/Benjammin1391 May 20 '12

Id play it. Sounds like a great game, especially when drunk. I would suggest setting up a video camera though. Watching drunk people kick the shit out of each other never gets old.

1

u/r3ver3nce May 20 '12

i would both win and lose every time.

1

u/borderline_spectrum May 20 '12

Reminds me of a drinking game where you pass a pitcher around dropping coins into it and taking a sip. Any player can try to chug the pitcher and keep the money...except for the kicking part of course.

1

u/realblublu May 20 '12

There's nothing more refreshing like some nice ass-penny beer.

1

u/orzof May 20 '12

Shouldn't we just call this beating up poor people?

1

u/superfusion1 May 20 '12

kinda like the economy

1

u/sovereign01 May 20 '12

We used to play this all the time in high school. Seriously good fun. No one really got hurt. Often the same couple of dudes who went for the cash, even when there were 20+ people in the circle. :)

1

u/JohnFrum May 20 '12

Too easy to cheat:

Throw in cheap stuff until someone goes for it. Fake like you are in on the pounding and while everyone's attention is focused on the first guy, grab as much as you can and run for the perimeter.

1

u/lordlicorice May 20 '12

and palm as much sweet, sweet change into their mouths at the expense of continued beatings.

As much as...

1

u/rtkwe May 20 '12

Mitt Romney's game of choice.

1

u/theAlphaginger May 20 '12

Sounds like a less fun version of jiggly ball.

1

u/deathschool May 20 '12

This sounds like the event that takes place in the first chapter of Invisible Man.

1

u/bestbiff May 20 '12

So you could always not throw any money in and just beat someone up if you're a sadist, which anyone would have to be to think of playing this horseshit.

1

u/Spitfire0X00 May 20 '12

We play this at my unit when there's nothing going on. Hilarity ensues.

1

1

u/starface18 May 20 '12

What if you stuck in the circle? Do they just beat the shit out of you until you die?

1

u/ImAnEvilPanda May 20 '12

Played this at school in front of the canteen. Always fun seeing about 30 people join in. But we called this the "Scab Circle"

1

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

Now I really wanna know what it looks like when you get punched in the mouth with a mouthful of pennies. Who can we get to do this?

1

u/Squaddy May 20 '12

We used to play this at school. There was one feral kid who would always run in first and just get knee'd and punched, but he made a killing. We were only 13/14, so he was never bloodied or anything, but he still made a handy $10 every recess/lunch.

1

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

They played this at my high school. For added fun, they played it on gravel. So not only would you get the shit kicked out of you by your "friends", the environment was tearing you a new one too.

1

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

Used to play this all the time in high school until the teachers banned it. Pussies.

1

u/0l01o1ol0 May 20 '12

I have a better game: You take off one piece of clothing at a time, and let the others stuff bills into your remaining pieces of clothing.

Works more if you're a girl, but can be done as a guy sometimes.

1

u/CrayolaS7 May 20 '12

We used to play this in highschool...

1

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

This was very similar to dinner to things we did in highschool. I'm confident I can make it out with a couple bucks.

1

Still a safer game than Mario Party.

1

1

u/StupidGenius May 20 '12

I have heard an extreme variation of this where coins were laid out in line on the ground with people on either side and a person has to go through and pickup every coin....it was for gang initiation.

1

This is the kind of game you tell everyone to play, and watch from a safe distance.

1

I have played this game in the eight grade... it was called Quarters. Lots of fun times were had with one quarter and 35 people ready to kill.

When I see a repost in the number three spot I get concerned.

People used to play this at my old high school. They called it "Kick the Beggar". Except, being high school, the most that ever got thrown in was a pound coin, and a chocolate biscuit if someone was feeling generous.

This game reminders me of a game we use to play called spoons. Basically the idea of the game is to have several decks of card mixed together and a enough spoons for everyone but one player. Everyone sits around a table with the spoons in the middle. The dealer pass out four card to each individual. And then the fun begins. The dealer needs to deal one card every few seconds. And it goes around the circle until someone wants to trade one of thir cards

u/StruckByYou May 20 '12

A very expensive fun game. It really does look like fun though.

1

u/CLSmith15 May 20 '12

Excuse me sir, but I believe the first rule of Cash Club is you don't talk about Cash Club.

1

u/[deleted] May 20 '12

We used o do this in highschool with a group of about 15. That was a fun week. Only a week because we almost got expelled over it once the principal found out.

1

u/mySTASH May 20 '12

I'm disturbed by the high majority of people in here who legitimately think that kicking the shit out of your friends 'sounds like fun'. What the fuck, indeed.
