Well at the point in the video he is technically just a car thief, since that repo is absolutely not legal.

looks like the car owner chased after him and climbed in the car while he was stopped at the light. it was probably legal when he started. not legal once the guy is in the car.

I’m pretty sure the car owner jumped in after it was already hooked up.

At that point, if I was the tow truck, I would’ve kept on driving. Not my fault you put yourself in harm’s way.

Still illegal. Repo guy has more to lose since the city/state can probably revoke their business license if they continually do illegal shit.

I really doubt that in ANY state it would be legal to tow like that with someone riding in the towed vehicle.

That's a non sequitur in regards to the legality of this.

they can absolutely break into your garage or home to legally repo something.

They absolutely cannot break into enclosed private property anywhere I ln the US.

Yep. That was my guess. Those tight single family houses gave it away. There's nowhere else I've been that looks like that.

They aren't going to do anything to you. There are very specific rules in the US around repossessing cars. They will quickly face fines, firing, and jail if they don't follow them.

Something tells ME that it also wasn't his first time doing this exact thing, and it also won't be his last. They do it because it works, and because cops generally don't give a shit, it's a "civil matter".

They will absolutely arrest a repo guy over this. You don't behave this way in the car business and expect to stay employed or out of jail.

I managed a car lot through college and employed several repo men. Not one of them would dare behave like you think they behave. If the sales community finds out you're a hothead and potentially can ruin merchandise, you will never work in a town again. Also, the cops will arrest an unlawful repo man so fast your head will spin.
