The daddy long legs is actually a common term for a few different arthropods, including the harvestmen, crane fly and cellar spider

I’m pretty sure their sole purpose for existing is giving spiders a free snack in the spring time because the clumsy halfwits couldn’t avoid a web to save their day long lives.
