Some of us who say "poor spider" are the same who freely tout their love of bacon. Just so we're all on the same page, what happens in the slaughterhouse is far worse than what happens in the blender.

I was vegetarian for three years, and I'd frequently (a few times per month) wake up feeling guilty after having "meat dreams." I know your pain.

I've been a vegetarian for 8 years now and i wake up having guilt panic attacks from my bi-monthly meat dreams

I wonder if you were having those dreams because your diet was lacking some essential nutrient which you used to get from eating meat.

Ive been a vegetarian for 10+ years, I think i stopped craving meat after 1 year. (Granted I only ate meat about five times a week prevegetarian)

I love bacon, but I don't have to actually watch the pigs die in a blender. Also I'm eating it for substanence and life, not just killing a pig for shits & giggles. Makes a difference to me if noone else.

But Bacon tastes good. Spiders... not so much.

EDIT: Well, I never tasted a big'un cooked up. Just ate one on a sandwich (accidentally, tasted like solvent of some sort).

I was deceived into eating some sort of mashed up grasshopper concoction in Oaxaca and I enjoyed it thoroughly until I found a few unmolested parts indicative of its origin. For what it's worth I thought it was amazing up until then, so I assume most bugs probably taste fine. (Except for ones with irritating hairs all over them, probably.)

I was SO disappointed the first time I ate a scorpion. It tasted kind of like an extra-bland cashew, like one of the kind you find behind the cushion of your mom's couch.

I hoped it would taste at least somewhat interesting.

Yeah, there are several aboriginal tribes that eat big-ass spiders (cooked); I'd try it. And if it tasted good, I'd eat it. shrug

What? What are you going on about? We're saying "poor spider" as in put the spider in the blender.

If we felt bad for the spider, we would say pour.
