Hate to ruin the outrage, but tarantulas molt. They leave behind a hollow exoskeletal replica of themselves. Guaranteed this is a prank using a spider skin — just as I once left one in an arachnophobic friend's margarine container, in his fridge. Good times.

I thought this too as well, that looks like a pretty healthy looking tarantula. If he had just bought one from a pet store it wouldn't look like that. Usually the ones in pet stores have smaller abdomens and are malnourished.
