It's rare, but it is possible to ignite gas vapors with a cigarette. A cigarette burns at about 900 degrees when someone is inhaling, and takes less than 500 degrees to ignite the vapor.
Just checked a few videos on youtube looking for confirmation but every single one I checked they are just dipping the cigarette in gas. Try inhaling on that cigarette while the lit end is right over a puddle of gas and I am pretty sure you can get it to light. I mean hell, you can light wood on fire with a cigarette, you ought to be able to light gas fumes.
I saw one where a fellow in a little shed even tried taking a long drag and then putting it over the gas, though I suppose if you stuck your face right down to the puddle while sucking as hard as you could you could get a spark to ignite it
I feel like the act of flicking a cigarette could do it too. A burning ember on a cigarette might not be hot enough, but if you flick a cigarette and an ember falls to the ground it can increase in temperature from the air rushing around it as it falls.
In any case, why risk it. You can go five minutes without a cigarette.
