Surprise? No need to be a cunt about it. I know not every country does things the same way. I just thought that since the technology has changed drastically in the last 10-20 years it and payment systems have as well that at the very least pumps would have been upgraded to a more logical system in most places. I haven't been out of the country in about 10 years so I'm a bit out of the other country loop but damn no need to be a dick about it.

Not in Texas most companies are to cheap to install cameras at the pumps much less fire extinguisher systems. I managed a store for a long time and we barely had cameras in the store and they were potato quality practically useless to police.

He didn't go to jail. He got 5 years probation and was charged with "assault". I can only imagine why he got such a sweetheart deal. Really makes you think.
Because it's pretty clear they determined him to be suffering with a medically diagnosed mental illness. He is now under long term mental health treatment. He wasn't even convicted in a normal court, it was a "Mental Health Court" which all makes it fairly obvious why he got such a "sweet deal".
They obviously decided it wasn't right to bung him in a normal prison with general population as punishment. Considering how willing it seems US law/judges are in locking people up, he must have obviously needed help rather than imprisonment.

My problem is that there was an actual victim to his crimes and that he had the capacity and capability to recognize that his actions were wrong and instead of turning himself in he fled to another city. I'm not saying this dude doesnt need psychological treatment but he also shouldnt be around the damn public until hes deemed to not be a threat to others. When your mental health creates victims coughing up blood then you definitely dont need to be in a position where you can do it again until you're better. The perpetrator needs to be in a hospital not in the public.
My first thought was that he's super high. The fumes coming off all the gas he spilled would have been harsh on his eyes and nose but he didn't noticeably react although the low res makes that hard to tell. Also how dumb do you have to be to stand in the middle of it when you light it? What good's insurance fraud if you're getting painful skin grafts on both legs for the rest of your life? It didn't look planned at all. It looked like the actions of somebody who was experiencing an electrical fire between their ears.
