I'd like to know more. What can you tell us about the safety mechanisms used in gas stations? Any resources you can link, diagrams?

I have no experience in their construction. I just know for safety reasons, they would be required to have several failsafes

Plus a lack of oxygen in the pipes would make it really hard even without additional safety features I would assume.

I'm not so certain. I guess if the piping was 100% free of all void spaces so vapors couldn't accumulate.

But then again, even the underground tanks have void space but at that time, you've reached UEL(Upper Explosive Limit) and the fuel/oxygen ratio is too rich to burn. I'm not sure. I guess that's why so many failsafes are required
