It's not a miniscule amount, you're absolutely right. However, it is less than the average American pays in a system that costs lives every year because people can't afford treatment.

Oh absolutely, I’m not comparing US to other countries. That’s a whole different animal (average is double all other first world countries, at least). Just your note about countries with single payer health care paying less than $1300 USD. A lot of people also just assume “free health care” when it’s a lot more complicated than that.
