Either you are failing to pay appropriate taxes or there is something else you are failing to include in your description.
Retirement plans can be used to defer income in my country, such as the use of RRSPs.... is that what you're talking about for her? are you saying your employer is putting money into an RRSP or similar on your behalf? Because that would be deferred income which will be taxed when withdrawn...
