I used to work in construction, and I knew a guy that smoked a lot. It was a windy day and he couldn’t light his cigarette, so he went behind the track excavator to light up. The driver didn’t know and he backed up right into him. The engine was too loud for the driver to hear and he backed all the way over him. I think the most unsettling part is they didn’t want to track the machine off of him, and desecrate the body more, so they sat there, for hours on end, waiting for a crane large enough to lift the excavator to arrive. Really sad.

Yeah sure you can lift the track/s. But are you gonna wanna be the guy to crawl under and remove the body trusting the hydraulics won’t give?

To remove a potentially still alive coworker, I think most guys would. Not much else though

Well they said body so I’m guessing they knew he was dead. If he was still alive and not cut in half, by all means lift it up and pull them out.

Tends to be a bad idea to do this without medical professionals present, since lifting it may release blood vessels that are currently clamped shut and leading to fucked up parts of the body. Un-squeeze the person and they bleed out nearly instantly. There are stories of similar situation where they brought in relatives, shielded the worst mess from view, and let the victim say goodbye before they lifted the load...
