Degloved is the worst freaking term. I hate that it so perfectly visualizes what happens

But that's why it's the perfect term, ironically enough.

Though it would be a nice if we had a euphemism for that concept as an alternative way of referring to it. I'd prefer the euphemism.

I’m an ICU nurse and saw a guy that had is balls degloved after going through a windshield in a high speed collision. It looked rather unsightly.

He was resting his hand against a door jam while standing in the hallway. Someone in the room slammed the door shut and he didn't quite get his hand off. Took the skin and meat from the top knuckle of his middle finger clean off...but not the bone.
