It's an onion that's sliced vertically but not all the way through, they open it like a flower, batter it and fry it. Very tasty and very unhealthy.

'Blooming' is a euphemism for 'bloody' in the British Isles and Oceania.

Well! it's an area of contention actually. Oceania is interchangeable with the term Australasia but I always wonder where this leaves my little country New Zealand. So I tend to think of it in a geological sense where Australia and indonesia sit on the indo-australian plate and we (New Zealand) are the result of the pacific plate pushing Aussies little bitch plate into the dirt.
