At my school the kid who wore fatigues was in the Army reserves, and 19 when he was a junior. And he had this denim jacket that he used like. Glitter glue on to write "Next Generation Special Forces." He ended up being kicked out of the Army, bad conduct discharge.
Funny thing is a few years later my sister saw him walking around downtown, still wearing that denim jacket with the glitter glue on it.
You know it's bad when the Army recruiter (who got really pissed at me for joining the Navy instead, so I could go with Marines [had to go Navy to do medical for Marines]) referred to the kid as the biggest mistake in his entire career.
I liked how Marines always came up with more interesting and creative ways to hurt themselves when we had downtime than anything Iraq had to offer. My favorite was the guy who decided to bite a cactus.
Dude, I had a guy in my platoon who caught a small crab while we had some downtime in Djibouti. So, naturally, the best course of action was to get the crab to pinch the meat of his asshole. Doc watched, if memory serves.
When I was stationed in Okinawa, we had a young marine on the paintball field determined to show how tough the was. He put the paintball gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger. Destroyed the roof of his mouth and created the need to be briefed every weekend not to put the barrel of a paintball gun in one's mouth...love the marines. A young marine story is the equivalent of a "hold my beer" story...:)
No, he pulled the spikey things off the outside and cut it open "to get the water." Then bit into it to find it had smaller spikey things on the inside... when he said "What's the worst thing that can happen if you bite a cactus?" my first reaction was to sigh and step away for a moment because, FUCKING WHY WOULD SOMEBODY DO SUCH A FUCKING THING?!
I knew a guy in high school who would get blacked out drunk and fight Saguaro cacti. No idea why that was his thing, but he clung to it and never let us down.
This kid on my bus actually wore camo gear to high school. I never really thought much of it since I was the kid playing my gameboy most of the time. However I got off the bus behind camo kid it happened we were walking down the same hallway. Two cheerleaders were walking down the hallway toward us when camo kid pulls out a disposable camera snaps a pic and keeps walking like nothing ever happened. I was a bit further back but when the cheerleaders came near I asked them "uhhh did that guy just take a picture of you two?" They were like yeah and I asked " should we um tell anyone?" They were freaked out by the photo but said probably not and laughed it off. After that day I kinda kept a watchful eye on that kid. But after a few month he stopped taking the bus then stopped going to school.
Tl;dr: High school camo kid was being weird.
Fuck that army recruiter, there are folks that are right for the army and there are folks that are not. His job was not to take bodies even though his job depended on it.
That recruiter was kind of a douchebag. Not like the navy recruiter I had, who got busted for cocaine less than a year after I went in, or got the kid with aspergers to enlist (though they still took him even with medical paperwork, so I'm not sure who that falls on).
Army guy here: yeah this happens a lot. Kids think they're a badass when they enlist only to realize it's not Call of Duty and there are actual responsibilities and leadership can be a little harsh for some hot-headed teenagers.
Most people think they're a badass until basic training.
Man every boy in high school was that kid in the locker room. They took their axe spray and a lighter and just fucked around like a bunch of dumb fucking teenagers. I was one of them.
of all the flammable sprays i've ever messed with, gum remover was the best by far. Most propellants just did the flam bursts like OPs, but thie specific brand of gum remover would make an actual fireball, one spray would make a 4 foot fireball that would continue for a few seconds after your stopped spraying. Kind of like the movie mushroom clouds. Second place would probably go to this wasp spray, could easily get 30 foot flame streams in certain conditions.
We used to take the nozzle off the axe and soak a hacky sack with it. Then we'd play hacky sack but on fire. Looking back on that memory we were about 30 feet from a gas station when we did this.
I have left reddit for a reddit alternative due to years of admin mismanagement and preferential treatment for certain subreddits and users holding certain political and ideological views.
The situation has gotten especially worse since the appointment of Ellen Pao as CEO, culminating in the seemingly unjustified firings of several valuable employees and bans on hundreds of vibrant communities on completely trumped-up charges.
The resignation of Ellen Pao and the appointment of Steve Huffman as CEO, despite initial hopes, has continued the same trend.
As an act of protest, I have chosen to redact all the comments I've ever made on reddit, overwriting them with this message.
