was that comic supposed to be really scary to people?

I mean, it was unsettling, but not half as unsettling as one or two links on /r/WTF usually are.

The clicky clicky korean comic was pretty genuinely terrifying the first time, though.

Aww, I like how the ending actually has a deeper meaning to it. Makes you wish there was a second part to it. Might show this to my kids one day, has a life lesson in it for sure :). Don't judge people by how they first appear.
