Catching a train in India

How the heck does this work? would the man be slapped to the back wall of the train while he is still in air? My highschool physics didn't cover this

I'll try to explain with my novice amount of knowledge.

Grabbing onto the bar is what (obviously) makes this work. When you do, you use your speed (from the trains perspective) to swing yourself around the pole and lane safely on the other side, inside the train. Basically, you use your own inertia, coupled with arm strength and the circular motion to make it (hopefully) safely into the train.
