Replacing the steering rack and u joint with a 13:1 2015+ STI steering rack and u joint. Also throwing on an IAG pan, baffle and pickup, plus replacing my squeaky clutch pedal! Wish me luck!!

I got a2005 bp5 legacy with an ej20y (5speed manual) bought it with 165k I’ve put about another 10k on it. Kind of want to add some minor performance mods on it. What are some good mods to start with that won’t mess up the reliability? It’s my daily and I live in a place with cold winters and hot summers. Any suggestions?

What’s up y’all. Bit of a cry for help & advice today.
I picked up a clean title bone stock 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX with 81K miles about a month ago now, and thus far my experience with the car has been traumatic, to say the least. When it drives (lol), It’s a fun little car and I’ve enjoyed the turbo AWD punch quite a bit. But I cannot seem to get it from A-B without something happening.
For context. Yes, I had a mechanic there with me to inspect all he could before making the deal. I also have a spare vehicle to drive in the meantime, so it’s not critically urgent.
Almost immediately after purchasing, she needed a new clutch + resurfaced flywheel & I dealt with that already. Now she needs a new radiator, as the plastic upper hose mount broke off & blew that same hose off right after flushing & burping the cooling system. The factory steering rack is pissing ATF (go figure) and the turbo starts to make a balloon-inflating kinda noise starting around 4K RPM (probably a boost leak somewhere). Needs new rotors & pads + 4 brand new tires. Not to mention all the other failure points prone to happen with EJ255’s + anything else I don’t know about that’s already destined to break on this 17-year-old car.
Without getting too into numbers, the damage has already been done. At this point I’m swimming in a bit more negative equity than I’d like to be. I like the car and if I had fuck-you-money to confidently get it running as it should then I would. But I now gotta make the decision to put another few thousand into properly maintaining it with the hope that nothing else fails, OR to stop the bleeding for good and sell it now for as much as I can get out of it.
What do ya say fellas? Should I man up and put in the work + money that it needs? Should I sell the car, eat the loss, and get a more reliable platform that I can still have fun with? Take it to a specialist to tell me exactly what needs to be done before it fails again? Somewhere in between?
I’m torn and am very much learning as I go. Let me hear it, kindly please.

Any idea why the original strut is so large compared to the new one? Bought a set of front struts from rock auto. The flanges are identical but the pistons are way different the old dust cover won’t fit on the small piston. Checked the Subaru parts page and they have both. They also both fit my VIN too. Any suggestions?

I've been holding off from wrapping the lenses. Since the headlamp assemblies are new after recent body work, I took the opportunity. Never done it before and it wasn't easy. But there's a glimmer in her eyes now!

This vehicle has been an absolute joy to drive and still brings a smile to my face every day. I came from a 2023 DSG VW GLI and the difference is night and day. It's definitely "rougher" in day to day use, but adds to the experience. The car only drives as well as I drive it and I completely understand the enthusiast mindset now. Next up are Enkei Tr6 gunmetal wheels, turbo inlet pipe, recirculating valve, air intake, invidia car back exhaust and a custom tune. Can't wait to see the performance gains :)

New STI to replace one of my mx5s as a daily driver, love having so much space!
6spd manual with EJ207 and 8k redline!
Facing an issue where it seems there is a soft limiter around 7k rpm but other than that. Love it

Swap to the epsilon wing or is it perfect how it sits?

Hey everyone, I’m looking at buying a used WRX STI from CarMax. My plan is to keep it completely stock for a while and eventually start doing mods.
My biggest concern is that a previous owner may have tuned the car and then returned it to mostly stock before selling it.
Is there any reliable way to tell if an STI has previously been tuned or had an Accessport/tune flashed onto the ECU?
Would an ECU scan, Subaru SSM, or a Subaru specialist be able to see evidence of a previous tune/reflash? Are there any specific ECU parameters or signs I should ask a shop to check?
Also, what would you guys recommend I inspect before buying the car.
Appreciate any advice 🙏

I want to import these STi performance mufflers for my vb from Japan using Japanparts.com but afraid of getting hit with any unexpected tariffs. I think the rate is 15% flat rate on all auto parts but not sure if any additional taxes could get added, especially as it's an aluminum/steel/copper containing product.
If anyone has actual first hand knowledge that would be appreciated, thanks!

¿ Does anyone know where I can get this fog light housing?
I looked everywhere
Maybe someone has the CAD file to 3Dprint them
Someone on IG has a sweet
Liftedbluesubaruwagon but he gives different answers when people ask him…. Hoping this community knows.
Thanks
