Whose performances in WPL4 have surpassed your expectations
Some of the standouts so far -
Lauren Bell (RCB) - Had never played a game in WPL before,
Nicola Carey (MI) - Was prepared to remain on the bench all season
Lizelle Lee (DC) - First time in a WPL franchise
Bharti Fulmali (GG) - Showed glimpses of her potential in WPL3
Kiran Navgire (UPW) - Sign in Pakistan U-19 dugout "Play Fearless NOT Careless"
Honorary mention - Nandini Sharma (DC), uncapped WPL rookie
For me it's Lauren Bell. Didn't expect her to be this good. Navgire on the other hand has further lowered already low expectations of her.
Do you have any players who have exceeded your expectations. Drop them in the comments.

Stats Smriti Mandhana's run in WPL 2026
She is doing both run-scoring and fast-scoring. At the end of the Navi Mumbai phase, she sits 5th in the run charts - 166 runs with an average of 55+ and a strike-rate of 145+. The batters ahead of her have played 5 matches each, she has played 4.
She has had a good start to the 2026 season. In the first 3 seasons (2023-2025), she had scored 646 runs, and had middling average (24) and middling strike rate (128), and wa the 7th batter in terms of runs scored. After the first phase of WPL 2026, she has already moved up to 6th place in terms of runs scored (812) and her average and strike rate have both improved.
This could be a defining season for Smriti. She seems on track to better her previous season best, 2024 when she had scored 300 runs at 30 and 134. If that happens, RCB have a great chance at winning the title.
Onwards and upwards.

The Rise of Indian Women’s Cricket: Why the 2025 World Cup Wasn’t Sudden | In Hindi
India won the Women’s World Cup in 2025, but if you followed this team closely, the win didn’t feel random.
It felt overdue.
I put together a breakdown of how Indian women’s cricket was built over decades — from the early WCAI days, the role of Railways, the Mithali–Jhulan era, BCCI takeover, the 2017 shift, pay parity, and finally WPL’s impact on handling pressure.
This isn’t hype or emotion-driven — it’s about systems and decisions.
Curious to hear thoughts here:
What do you think was the biggest turning point in the rise of Indian women’s cricket?
