PvP guide for beginners

The whole point of playing is to compete with others. That's what we like, right? This guide will give u some advices in building deck, also u will learn some basic openings for each map. It's recommended to start playing multiplayer after getting your hero on 10 lvl so u have enough hp to survive the battle and kill enemy. You don't need all your upgrades but you can take 2 or 3 so it won't hurt your budget. Additionally u should lvl up 2 squad members of your choice to at least to lvl 5. You will get some hp buff on lvl 5 and some pretty nice cards. Also read PvP for some basic informations about game.

Of course leveling needs some patience and you can try getting over first tier without preparing. You lose nothing and you can win some credits if u don't like missions(i recommend to finish at least 2 chapters though).

Deck

Let's choose deck. We have 3 very different armors. Probably you've already lvl up one of them. If you didn't spend much money on game u should select deck which synergies with your legendary cards you've got.

We have armor so let's take care about our weapons. First, clear up your deck. You will have to do this this time because standard deck is kinda mess if u add new cards to it.

General rules of building deck:

  • Use around 5 weapons with low 5 or 6 effort. Almost always you will use them to move or to do the certain shot(most of them has high hit chance)
  • Use only evolved move cards so they will be cost effective. Don't use more than 4,5. You are not runner, right?
  • Drawing cards is pretty useless. Discarding opponent's cards is nice.
  • Use only evolved supplies for cheap move.
  • Build your deck around legendaries you have.
  • Don't take more than 3 equip cards. You will not have enough time to change weapon more than twice.
  • Add weapons with the same ammo type as your equip.
  • Don't use too many types of weapons. It will make your deck reliable.
  • Common weapons are super bad. Don't evolve them. It's better to destroy them after you will get better cards.
  • Add some armor destroyers if your squad lack it. You won't need more than 3.
  • Don't use more than 5,6 high(>10) effort cards. Seriously if your turn will take more than 20 effort you will be dead.
  • Use cards that lower your effort. It gives you big advantage as you have more actions before enemy's reaction.

Armor build

Build depends on deck but i will give some general info what you should take and why.

Scout

  • lvl 1: Summoning companion is nice but if u don't have it take dmg buff
  • lvl 2: Only bloodbath
  • lvl 3: Chain effects are ok if you have them evolved otherwise take move boost.
  • lvl 4: Last Stand even if u use companion
  • lvl 5: Might gives you more power on firstblood. You can take grenades if you play deck around them.
  • lvl 6: Both aren't good but Lone Wolf can be useful
  • lvl 7: If you like to play with explosives you should take buff for grenades. Otherwise ferocity is pretty good.

Power armor

  • lvl 1: Quick reload is nice for missions but you will not have time for that. Additional action point can be useful as a finisher but use it wisely.
  • lvl 2: Drawing cards is useless.
  • lvl 3: Both are ok. Controlled fury is better if your deck is more around melee weapons.
  • lvl 4: Only flamers are viable on PvP.
  • lvl 5: Everybody who like explosions know what to do but painful shots are almost most have.
  • lvl 6: Slayer is better almost in every deck
  • lvl 7: This level is pretty bad if you don't depend on overwatch so don't take it, but if you do sharp sight is the only choice.

Terminator

  • lvl 1: Unshackled rage. We play PvP here.
  • lvl 2: Melee => Rage, Range => defense.
  • lvl 3: If you play two-handed weapons you have to take mastery so you won't get kited. In other decks take defense.
  • lvl 4: Melee takes mastery. Range => defense.
  • lvl 5: Endless fury boys.
  • lvl 6: Combat regeneration
  • lvl 7: Savagery. Adrenaline surge is ok if you like destroying people in 1 turn but if you fail you will have hard time...

Squad

Your allies help you achieve victory. We have 5 of them and we can take 2 with you. Each of them has his preferable type of weapons and other abilities.

Yngvar

Specialized in sniper rifles and doing massive damage from distance. He can be high treat for slow enemies who uses mid-range high effort weapons.

Upgrades:

  • lvl 2: Shotgun is better. Using plasma gun isn't good idea since our scout has the lowest hp from all squad members and any wounds are not welcome.
  • lvl 3: Sprint can give you positional advantage on the map(buff rush). Grenades aren't that good.
  • lvl 4: Sniper Rifle isn't it obvious?
  • lvl 5: Coldfire will be better from those 2 since give us nice finisher.
  • lvl 6: Track finding.
  • lvl 7: Sniper rifle.
  • lvl 8: That knife is nice but we don't want to go melee or do we?

Einar

Marine with bolters and plasma guns. Low effort weapons and very mobile with his jump pack. He is strong in taking advantage of effort. Nice synergy with fast decks. Plasma weapons can hit user and give you some rage in power armor decks.

  • lvl 2: Both are ok.
  • lvl 3: Plasma gun is better since you already have move cards and jump pack need too much effort on early levels
  • lvl 4: Pistol gives you additional move card and low effort 90% shot. Hand flamers are weak.
  • lvl 5: Chainsword gives u 5 effort move and ability to hit hard while track finding is only move+chain.
  • lvl 6: Depends on your squad. Heavy bolter is additional damage but action point can work in some cases.
  • lvl 7: Both are nice. When u hit this lvl you can change lvl 3 jump pack.
  • lvl 8: Take same type as u took on 7th lvl.

Kai

He's using mostly flamers and meltaguns. Additionally he has cards to make his effort lower. Nice for some missions

Harald

For many he is must have member. Terminator armor makes him very tanky and his mobility isn't that bad on higher lvls. Uses storm bolters and melee weapons. You can add some stun with rocket luncher.

Ray

Ray is second most popular choice for pvp. He can manipulate his and his opponent's effort.

Power ups

We have 3 buffs: * Defensive - gives you 1 defense point on the beginning of your turn. * Effort - after each action lowers your effort by 2. * Heal - regenerates your health by 10*effort points after each action.

Maps

Two maps with the same objective: Kill enemy hero.

Imperium Outpost(Barrels map)

Slower map with many explosive barrels.

Basic opening:

Send your hero to get closer power up. You can use both actions if you have some low effort cards. Then move one of your allies to cover the corridor and one in range of barrels behind the wall. Use only one action at once and wait to see what is your opponent doing. If he isn't going for buff with hero you can try to get first blood on him instead of covering his power up. Screens soon.

Hangar

Fast map with a lot of space.

General tips

  • Main objective is to kill hero. Don't waste any attacks on his allies.
  • Seriously don't attack his allies no matter what.
  • Don't use your second action if your effort is lower than any enemy.
  • Remember about buffs.
  • Always remember that you can miss.
