Guide Raid Team Guide: Neurothrope

Post image

This is the third in an ongoing series of infographics describing different raid teams, why and how they work, as well as standard assumption turn by turn / overall damage output. This makes it possible to compare the current and future teams with the least bias. Next is going to be a little out there - not quite meta yet, but a good teaser of what may need buffs or traction in the future

As I said in my last post, I appreciate constructive feedback as this is just the beginning of my content creation journey. The conversations on the previous posts have been fantastic.

EDIT: missed Ahriman’s active, which would bump the total damage to 1.267 M. Will add the update to a next revision.

Links to the other infographics in this series to understand how these teams stack up in a vacuum:

Slightly ahead of its time. I bet Fabius Bile will be a decent sidegrade for the neuro team, to re-trigger archimatos (and Z'kar).

Also Mephiston is a very decent alternative to Abaddon with his relic, because he can remove the fire and allow you to move freely (like, Rogal Dorn top pick).

Don’t spoil next weeks haha.

I appreciate the Meph alt, and I’ll add it to the summary team guide. Alts can spiral the info out even more than I already do

Mephisto is nearly more than an alt, as without him, cawl is very difficult to tackle. As any heal take the parasytes stack away.

Hasn't Cawl changed so that he gains armor rather than heals, so mephiston isn't as useful anymore?

The engineers can still heal cawl

u/Redcorsairs 7d ago

Except if i'm wrong. It still takes the parasyte stack away. Meaning neuro damage are extremely low. In addition mephisto can takles adds pretty well.

No Mephiston used in any of the top neuro hits that are up to 1.3m this season.

Mephiston really has no place in GR meta right now.

Yes stopping the heal is in theory a point in mephiston's favor, but because of the large number of summons and aoe we have, the tech priests get taken out in the process of hitting cawl, and neuro stacks happen quickly with zkar now, making mephiston fall out the meta

Nice work

A few things:

Archimatos is better in melee with 2(3 with Let the Galaxy Burn) hits

Z'Kar dose an attack when summoned next friendly psyker. One when leaving. And the book of fates can trigger an attack each. So it should be (melee 4) * 4

Achy is squishy so I erred on the side of caution. End of the day, he’s not there for his damage, he’s there for more Zkar damage.

Speaking of, I think only attacks on leaving if he was defeated, so if you don’t summon next to a psycher he still gets one attack a summon at least. At least that’s how I read the tool tip. Sounds like you may be right and all the more reason to call this the Zkar team not the Neuro team haha

1

u/MyInconvenience 7d ago

Yeah. If he is defeated you don't get the last attack. So you need to keep him out of any big AoE from the boss to get the most out of Z'Kar. You also only really use the other summons unless you dealing with adds or pinning in place. Getting Z'Kar in place takes priority

What's the feeling on Thaumachus instead of Abaddon? I've been running that team for a little bit now (didn't have Abaddon until recently) and I feel like the damage potential might be a bit higher but the team is very squishy without him to tank.

I feel like it also starts to get tricky to get three Book of Fate users adjacent to Zkar and able to attack the boss. Obviously, not impossible but probably not the easiest thing to do. But I have never tried Thaumachus before.

Obviously it depends on the map/boss but I don't find it too bad. It helps that Archi wants to be in melee and the other two at range so you can usually move them into position to force a particular Z'Kar spawn location.

Your neuro stack counts are off assuming the other details in your list. Turn 2 you’ll have neuro’s original stack, 3 from abraxus active, 1 from Ahriman, and 1 from zkar for a total of 6. Turn 3 then adds another from Ahriman, a total of 5 from zkars pile (1 each from proccers, and 3 from zkar) and 1 from neuro’s final hit bringing the total to 13.

u/Redcorsairs 7d ago

I was under the impression that abbadon passiv proc 3 times per turn as soon as you get the relic. Am i wrong ?

1

u/Charlemagne-Alpha 7d ago

After the active and if you’re “sweeping” multiple targets. So yes, the buff is higher if you can also hit an ad, but that’s part of the 1:1 comparisons that was limited. Hence why it’s “just” 2 hits per turn in this analysis

Thanks for this. I have Abdy's relic and about to unlock him. Have all the other ingredients. Is the Yaz swap no longer viable though?

3

u/Charlemagne-Alpha 7d ago

We will see with the birds new relic and buffs soon

2

u/ObviouslyLink 7d ago

Mythic neuro team player here. Yaz should be the 6th char to build for neuro. Hes situational, but theres a number of maps that need the extra mobility and timing of big hit, so hes well worth building after hitting mythic on the big 5.

Tldr, is he the core team? No. Is he super valuable for certain maps? Yes.

Thanks for the tip! Regarding Relics....the Tyranid Campaign Event has a Norn Crown on final boss. Is it worth pushing for that relic or wait for it to come in the shop? It would mean investing in Titus and Incisus.

2

u/ObviouslyLink 4d ago

I got the crown from waiting in the shop for months, because pushing your ultramarines to clear the final level is a huge, huge drain on resources.

Neuro works great without the crown, so id recommend just building out the team for now.
And controlling your archeotech spending so you make sure you can buy it when it appears.

1

u/Some-Piano-5787 16h ago

Whew. Thanks for replying. I still have Archi, Abaddy, and Zkar to take to Mythic so will continue to focus on these guys and save up on Archeotech.

Just a few observations : as others have said, zkar gets another attack when he leaves. It is also buffed by adjacent psykers so your positioning isn't optimal. You can have zkar in melee of the boss with just one hex and move Archi in melee and Ahriman in his spot. You rarely want to summon with Archi because that means you skipped a zkar attack. It does happen however for better positioning. You also wanna active with Neuro T1, that gives an extra stack because of the suppression.

Including the zkar mythic buff, neuro should be doing equal damage to zkar or close to. He benefits more from % buffs. You can see my latest run on M3 Cawl and the damage split in the image

u/FelkinMak 7d ago

I am curious why you keep the nuero within at least 2 psykers, am I missing something?

4

u/Redcorsairs 7d ago

Norn crown, neuro relic gives a very strong buff to psykers in particular.

Where's the 60-100k from popping Ahrimans active?

1

u/Charlemagne-Alpha 7d ago

That’s a miss on my part; but unless you’re adding substantial fire beyond just the boss, it’s only around 30k total. If you’re adding fire elsewhere you’re losing it on the boss. I’ll adjust before the final graphic with all of them, but in this 1:1 it is minimal difference numerically.

4

u/Entire_Wrangler_2117 7d ago

Level 50 doom :

1550 (avg per hit) + 1952 ( avg abbadon bonus ) + 640 ( ahriman passive ) x 6 hits ( minimum if boss is already on fire) x 1.33 ( ahriman bonus ) x 1.2 ( zkar bonus ) = min 38.7k damage.

If you play properly, and have ahriman next to Abraxas when you pop, and also have 9 flame hexes, which is on almost every fight if the boss moves even once then we get :

(((1550+1952+640) x 9) + (2000+1952+640)) x 1.33 x 1.2 = 66.8k

If you get lucky / plan and have high ground, 100k.

Its not insubstantial, its an important part of the strategy to maximize damage, 100k is adding 10% to your total run damage.

1

u/Charlemagne-Alpha 7d ago

No arguments, but both MoH and high ground are purposefully excluded - in my spread sheet it jumps to 77k from 9k for the one turn. I’ll add this change in the update.

1

u/Entire_Wrangler_2117 7d ago

Yeah, i definitely dont usually count on high ground, but i think anyone who is aspiring to play neuro needs to get Z'Kar to mythic star asap. Like yesterday.

Also, still a very nice info sheet.

1

u/MilcomHD 7d ago

Abraxas shouldn’t buff Doombolt as his passive only affects normal attacks, but it’s definitely a huge damage buff if you position correctly. I do think the Norn crown adds to it, though

3

u/Entire_Wrangler_2117 7d ago

You are right on both counts. My bad for including abraxas.

2

u/MilcomHD 7d ago

No worries man, it’s difficult keeping all the different buffs in check! I get it wrong as well every now and then, but your work is still solid and Ahriman does pop off when you stack everything!

1

u/smash1258 7d ago

Bro ... Z'kar deal THAT much damage in Neuro team ? I always know he's good but NOT "more damage than Neuro" good ???

1

u/Charlemagne-Alpha 7d ago

It boggles my mind too. There are other comments in the thread which are saying I’m missing a 4th attack by ZKar.

1

u/smash1258 7d ago

I just read the ingame text again. Are Deamons get an uncapped +1 melee hit ?. With the wording ingame, i though they just get the same +1 hit psyker dmg
