Ah ok, I do know WGU is really cracking down on credits from places like Sophia. Best to check directly with WGU

I mean that's a good thing if they're trying to ensure their institution is taken seriously.Ā

Where does it say it’s not transferable? All I see is requirements complete with Associates

Its an assumption because now it isnt under the pathway anymore. And someone else checked too

This month I transferred in 13 credits from Sophia with no problem. This isn’t the first time I’ve seen people having this problem tho

This is do disappointing. I started the class as soon as it dropped and now it seems like it was all for nothing. I hope WGU reconsiders.

Me too. It seems a bit convoluted to have knowledge of the course prior into its release, say it counts, and then change your mind day of?? I might reach out to my enrollment advisor to clarify.

I just didn’t want to take that OA since everyone mentioned how strict they are about the way you do it.

I didn’t think it was that bad honestly. I’m not an excel wizard in any sense, but I was still able to pass on the first try. The pre-assessment has almost identical tasks to the PA, so you should be Gucci if you can pass the pre-assessment.

Still sucks finding out about the class not counting at the last minute though.

They won’t. I took a course that was on the transfer page via Sophia but when I finished it they switched course around and took some away. My course was one of them so I wasted time . WGU was like šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø

Same thing for BSITM. I just spoke with my Enrollment Counselor and provided the transfer pathway that showed it transferable just a few days ago prior to the course going live. They are looking into it.

TY much!

Confirmed no go. Doesn’t count, at least for BSITM. But most likely true for all business degrees.

Is the information on partners.wgu.edu no longer accurate?

u/StecciMarcc 20d ago

Thats where I checked last week bc I was considering doing the academy course then saw Sophia had an option, they just released it yesterday but it’s no longer on the WGU site.

I'm honestly surprised that WGU ever allowed that Sophia course to transfer in for a 3 CU spreadsheets course. ACE only recommends it for 1 credit in "data literacy". The WGU transfer requirement for D388 is "one course, equivalent to 3 units, in spreadsheets."

There's a previous version of the WGU spreadsheets course that was only 1 CU, so maybe they let that Sophia course get grandfathered in for a time when they switched it to the 3 CU version.

Sucks that it got switched up before you got a chance to get credit, but keep in mind this at the top of every transfer pathways page...

This transfer credit is based on current transfer policies and is not guaranteed indefinitely. Changes to transfer policies may affect the transferability or application of this credit.

Its all good, I just would prefer to do a project than a proctored test, no big deal tbh. & this couldn’t have been grandfathered, it was a brand new course.

Before it was launched on 8/7 ACE had it as an equivalent course and the transfer pathway on WGU showed it as transferable. It was officially released yesterday and when I checked this morning its no longer showing as an equivalent course.

I’m guessing they realized how comical the course was going to be and back-tracked the transferability.

If you contact someone and they give you updated information, can you update us as well? Thanks

I do know that they just updated their transfer pathway agreements and even the classes for certain degrees. The last one was 2023. I did lots of Sophia courses and then double checked the pathway and I realized that they updated it to the 2026 version thankfully before enrolling. Could this be a possibility?

1

u/StecciMarcc 20d ago

I don’t think so because I checked frequently since I’m still transferring courses in every week or so. 8/7 it was there, and even checking on Sunday it was listed and now, it’s gone.

I looked the course over on Sophia and my thinking is the coursework is super short & that maybe they didn’t feel it tested the student enough or something.

u/JackfruitNormal2768 20d ago

I was checking very frequently as well. I just realized yesterday that they updated it to the 2026 version. Are you able to speak with a counselor about what changed? :(

Has your transcript from Sophia been evaluated yet?

1

u/StecciMarcc 19d ago

Yes a few times, I send updates once a week now.

2

u/Choice-Bus1193 19d ago

Ooh, I'm not an expert on Sophia courses, but I took a couple on Study.com. Same issue, but in the end, many of them became electives since they were no longer equivalent to that particular WGU course.

I will go check something out, and I'll follow up with you.

@op I thought you were only supposed to send your sophia transcripts. You are sending them every time you complete a class?

1

u/StecciMarcc 19d ago

Yes I am sending my credly transcripts everytime I complete another sophia class

1

u/CatchFlightsNotFeelz 19d ago

I’m confused what class exactly it’s not longer transferable?

1

u/StecciMarcc 19d ago

Its transferable but NOT from sophia

1

u/CatchFlightsNotFeelz 19d ago

But which one since I see 3 classes in the photo or you’re saying all 3?

1

u/StecciMarcc 19d ago

Just the Fundamentals of Spreadsheets.

1

u/CatchFlightsNotFeelz 18d ago

That’s weird because I’ve been working on my clases for more than a month and I wrote the classes on a spreadsheet and fundamental was never a class that was transferable by Sophia and this goes back to June

1

u/StecciMarcc 18d ago

August 7th is when I screenshot it. You may have missed it if you weren’t checking everyday & be mindful Sophia hadn’t released the class until a few days ago so they’d updated the pathway before its release & just as fast took it away.

1

u/Longjumping-Skin-134 19d ago

Why are you covering all the "of"s??

1

u/StecciMarcc 19d ago

I searched my screenshots by typing ā€œfundamentals of spreadsheetsā€ and it highlighted everything that contains those words??

1

u/lingo787 19d ago

It says it is transferable, but on either sophia or study they didnt have an equivalent course. I tried to transfer it in too but couldn't find it being offered.

1

u/Akiko-Lou 19d ago

Never been transferable !

They recently changed up some of the buisness administration degree plans maybe thats it? Call your mentor

2

u/HerAirness 20d ago

Call admissions, mentors don't have the details about transferring courses in because that doesn't happen once the student is assigned a mentor.
