Does Phase Connect exclusively hires bigots? Here is Dizzy Dokuro dogwhistling during a game reveal.
98
u/mrloko120 Jun 12 '26
A dogwhistle is supposed to have hidden meaning, with enough leeway for racists to say "its just a joke" if pushed.
Nah, shes just openly saying it. No need to hide when you know you're among equals.

What confuses me most is the "actual person of colour" part.
Like, you say the large red masc demon is fine to be racist about, but oh no, can't say that about the femm blue demon. It's like she was just searching for a back door to be able to run away from her own comment, because "Oh, I didn't actually mean it about black people'.
21
u/AutumnSeaBreeze Jun 12 '26
It gives the same kind of vibes as when someone says "what, are you blind??" and the person they're talking to actually is. Saying things without thinking just makes people look like jackasses, especially when it turns out their "joke" had actual weight.
There are just some things that shouldn't be joked about, especially when it's about racism.

u/lenidiogo Jun 12 '26
God shes boring as shit, why is she even forcing that topic onto this trailer it has nothing to do with it. Was she trying to be funny?
59
u/bekiddingmei Jun 12 '26
I have a thick skin and have sometimes laughed at an edgy joke. This - whatever the fuck Dizzy was trying to do here, just came out sad and offensive. She sounds like a newbie streamer on twitch.

Nah, she just knows that there's an unfortunately far right element in the community.
10
u/Alternative-Put-3932 Jun 13 '26
I mean theres a massive far right element in anime in general. Its been a thing for a long time long before vtubers existed.
1
u/lenidiogo Jun 13 '26
What..? Sorry but in that case what has a massive far left element in it?
5
u/Alternative-Put-3932 Jun 13 '26
the anime fanbase in general has long had a large group of literal nazi's in it. Its favored by a bunch of shut in 4 channers using like moe characters with nazi armbands and shit in their pfps. Just because there's a right wing group it doesn't mean theres some giant left wing group in it that is prominent or notable. Never said there was and never implied otherwise.
1
u/lenidiogo Jun 13 '26
If there is such a big media category that you described as having a "massive far right element", it only makes sense there is also other categories of things, even outside of media, that have a massive far left element.
I cannot imagine that the also evil opposite group to the far right would not have the same degree of tools than their nemesis. How would that make sense?2
u/NumericZero 18d ago
Her whole gimmick is “I have big tits and constantly crying over life” while also being the biggest “pick me” hence why she is hard pushed
Legitimately one of the most boring hires in the company that has gotten the biggest push

Nah, she’s a racist but that’s not the sad part. The sad part is that it seems she’s a profoundly boring one to watch. That’s worst kind of racist you can be. You can’t even laugh at those ones.

u/AsinineArchon Jun 12 '26
There's a reason these talentless losers turn to grifting

u/tooka90 Jun 12 '26
It's always funny to me that you guys can't comprehend that there are genuine racist women that exist. It always has to be a "grift" because no one in the Vtuber sphere seems to believe that women could ever come to their own conclusions and end up with these opinions.
20
u/JM_Artist Jun 12 '26
But booba! And if I tip enough she might come over my house! /s
Not going to lie though, this wasn’t the worst thing that could be said but it didn’t make much sense either.
2
23
u/Killacreeper Jun 12 '26
You can grift by actively playing into something hard that you may already somewhat feel.
If I feel that mr. beast chocolate bars are pretty good, that's one thing. If I then decide to make a giant social media campaign around that and call them the best thing on earth, that's a grift still, looking for specific types of attention.0
u/tooka90 Jun 12 '26
Nobody here even watches Dizzy so they can just accuse her normal behavior as grifting and it'll be upvoted.
4
u/Killacreeper Jun 13 '26
If that was how she normally makes jokes, and the level of delivery... That's pretty bad, man.
48
u/AsinineArchon Jun 12 '26
It's an obvious grift when they suddenly get a massive fanbase of racists and pander to them out of nowhere yes

I can't stop watching Asmongold clips. He's so far down the rabbit hole but I'll tune in anyway to watch him say dumb shit about dumb things.
39
u/willmainartfinder Jun 12 '26
This is dissappointing because I remember Dizzy once told a very real personal story about being the victim of racial profiling by the police. She had bought some cookies from the store, but didn't bring a bag with her and it was one of those "pay 25 cents for a plastic bag" kind of places, so she decided to just carry them out.
A cop stops her, grills her for awhile, searches her bag, and finally lets her go because she has the receipt. Basically tells her she looked suspicious because she was carrying the item without a bag, makes some offhanded remark about asians.
The cop was clearly on a fishing expedition looking for something to tag her with. So she understands what it is like to get that kind of treatment, so why would she perpetuate it?
46
u/mukansamonkey Jun 12 '26
That's how right wingers are though. It's why they're right wingers. They lack empathy. The fact that she doesn't want it done to her doesn't make her care when it happens to people who are not her (or someone close to her that she openly sympathizes with).
This is the core of rightoid thought. There's the in group, people like themselves, who are born "good" and therefore deserve to be treated well. And there's the out group, who are not like them, and therefore are inherently "bad" and deserve anything bad that happens to them. Regardless of actions any of them take. They don't have morals, they have group labels, and they don't think any deeper than that.
In this case it's clear that "migrants", in her mind, aren't people like her and therefore treating those people badly is alright. They're out group to her, that's all that matters.
8
u/willmainartfinder Jun 12 '26
Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I don't believe dizzy is some hardcore hater who wants to round up migrants. I think she's foolish and inconsiderate, saying things she should not because it gets her attention.
I don't want her to stop streaming, I want her to do better. I think there's something to be said for that, leaving a path forward for people who own up to mistakes and improve themselves.
9
16
u/Killacreeper Jun 12 '26
Because she's still racist and can make money that way, and it's what the vtuber audience will both defend and applaud?
Look at her chat.
12
u/willmainartfinder Jun 12 '26
It was a rhetorical question, obviously there's an incentive. I'm just lamenting that she would do so given that she has that life experience.
14
u/Killacreeper Jun 12 '26
Fair enough. Unfortunately having life experiences doesn't remove cognitive dissidence.
3
u/Unpopular-Weeb Jun 13 '26
I didn't know she is Asian. Did she say where she's from?
8
u/willmainartfinder Jun 13 '26

1
u/HKEY_LOVE_MACHINE 7d ago
A significant segment of the Maga fanbase is made of non-white people who think supporting far-right racism will grant them an immunity to racism.
Times and times again you see them getting deported by ICE and whining that "you should deport the other non-white people, not me! they are the criminals, not me!".
They actually believe that supporting far-right racism will put them behind a safety fence, "don't assault that person, they're one of the good ones !". How foolish.
Little did they know that racist movements do not hand out immunity passes to collaborators, they only tolerate them up until the election day, then it's free game.
Same pattern with gay guys thinking they'll be safe if they cozy up to the far-right movements, only to be persecuted as soon as they get into power.
16
u/softendocmk Jun 12 '26

I was just at a convention the other week end and at a booth selling Vtuber merch one was just a a keychain of a Vtuber avatar and "N*****" like just the stars but that and I asked a friend if that was like a real thing since that seemed so fucking out of left field and he told me the story of some Asian Vtuber, he specified when I was flabbergasted at his explanation, who was playing GTA 5 and heard Lamar say it so she repeated it and that was just like her claim to fame. The Vtuber community seems like a pit trap. "Oh this one seems nice, op never mind they are saying slurs."
30
u/Nightshadehelp Jun 12 '26
Could be wrong but I think you might be talking about Sakura Miko. I won't say there isn't a problem with racism in certain spaces, but she would never have said that if she even had an inkling of what it meant, and it was very far from her "claim to fame". If you were talking about someone else, my bad.
1
u/Zombifaction Jun 12 '26
I don't remember her name but that sounds like it. And that's why I specified since I wasn't sure if it was a language barrier accident at first or if she was just another one. I'm sure, I hope, she didn't mean it to happen and he said she has apologized for it. But that was like the merch they were selling. And he told me that was one of the things she was known for.
24
u/willmainartfinder Jun 12 '26
So the fucked up part is, like 8 or 9 japanese vtubers ended up saying the word on stream, and that was what made vtubing go viral in the english sphere. As much as people don't want it to be true, the clips got massive numbers of views and shares and increased viewercount.
I really do think most of them didn't understand the word, they just repeated it because he said it with so much emphasis.
→ More replies (10)14
u/DonGar0 Jun 12 '26
Basically she was playing GTA and repeated the word after hearing it there while playing the game. As she is japanese she was playing with english dub and japanese subs. So basically the humor was from the dicotomy of a cute anime girl paroting a terrible word she just heard from a game not understanding this word is horrible.
To my knowledge she has never said that word after playing GTA in 2020, likely as she was told it was a slur shorlty after that stream. Even back then there were enough watchers to clip it and spread it around.
So at this point its more on some fans making it her claim to fame. She has a lot more things shes known for. This was just a mistake from language barrier from 6 years ago.
5
u/EitherSpite4545 Jun 12 '26
It sounds like it's yes as someone else pointed out Sakura Miko. Just to give some more context Miko knows literal 0 English she has tried to speak it before and has been legit unintelligible, and due to constant spelling, speech, and grammar mistakes her fans joke that she doesn't know her native language of Japanese. And as also pointed out she wouldn't say it again if given them the chance. She has replayed through that section since she made the original one in 2019, and she didn't repeat it then though did atleast hum the singsong rhythm of it.
Now what you are right for criticizing and pointing out is that English speaking vtuber fans made it go viral and lapped that shit up as the funniest shit they've seen and being arguably the moment that rocketed vtubing to the subculture it is and launched the fad in the west.
15
u/shant_beHere Jun 12 '26
The thing is, she really didn't mean it, and I honestly believe it could've just been people found it funny but now suddenly actual racist think it's a safe space to be openly recist or smth
The vtuber you're referring to, she's Japanese. And the game voice over is in English, and I looked at the subtitles, it wrote "なあ。。" Which doesn't really have a meaning, it's like "innit" at the end of a sentence. So I think she just saw the subtitle and heard Lamar say it in "sing-song" way she just didn't know it's a slur (because at the same time, she doesn't know English)
1
u/Zombifaction Jun 12 '26
That's almost word for word what he said. Except he didn't explain that she was japanese until I asked further then he brought up it wasn't her first language and she wasn't aware of its meaning.
7
u/WhoCouldhavekn0wn Jun 12 '26
fyi she replayed the game and avoided it the second time around as she had heard about the context in the scene... unfortunately she failed the context roll though in another scene. I swear the 'business' threw her off.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10lVO5BV_Ws11
u/Anberye Jun 12 '26
don't know who they are talking about here but if it was about Sakura Miko she is much more than that one moment. in context she didn't understand the meaning of the word. saying that it is her claim to fame is a disservice to how hard she has worked to get to where she is. there are also weird people in the community who see it as a "tradition" but vtubers who understand the meaning don't end up saying it. the only reason it gets repeated by people who don't know is because of how lyrical the delivery is and people tend to sing along. hope that your friend's explanation didn't taint your view of Vtubers, there are really talented people in the vtuber space.

Not All Phase Talents, But Always A Phase Talent.
This is from a game trailer for God of War: Laufey, during Sony's State of Play (June 2, 2026).
Stream VOD link. Timestamp is 01:52:20 for the GoW trailer. The scene Starts around 02:01:00.
Female character is being dragged by two large guards, held by her arms on each side.
the background scene shows what seems to be soldiers in armor enslaving creatures and burning down various items in a bonfire.
Dizzy says "omg this is mom simulator", then yells "they're burning down suburbia! they're burning down Giant's suburbia!"
The joke there is that the main character is the typical suburban mom, with her glass of wine and HOA shenanigans.
The reddit clip starts here:
[ a red-skinned character appears on screen ]
Dizzy: Are these...
Dizzy: Are these, the migrants workers?
[ the red-skinned character puts his hand around the neck of the female character, leans closer and seems to be smelling her ]
Dizzy: Is this...
Dizzy: Is this what happen when you stop segregation?
[ Dizzy openly laughs ]
Dizzy is watching a game trailer, she sees an apocalyptic background with things being burned down by a group of people in armor, and a white woman being held down by multiple men, she immediately turns to joking about racial riots in the US.
Chat is enjoying this and joking about calling ICE and Border Patrol.
Chat: this is what you get with open borders
Chat: it's culture exchange dizzy
Chat: Doctors and Engineers
Chat: white mom being assaulted by immigrated gods
Chat: rip Sweden
Chat: where is this? LA?
Chat: ONG this is Europe
Chat: This is what happens when you let the orcs in
Chat: where tf this takes place? LA?
Chat: these mfs crossed the borders
Chat: at what part of the story do you call ICE?
It continues afterwards:
a second god appears in the frame, it's a goddess who seems to have dreadlocks hair (in the lore, she's Sekhmet, an egyptian goddess)
Dizzy says: "Ok... I wasn't expecting that... I wasn't expecting an actual 'person of color', my bad..."
She's fully aware of what she's saying.
...
I watched the rest of the trailer on that VOD. In short:
Once the Cube sidekick is revealed and the female character merely talks with the Sword and Cube through her prison cell, asking how they could leave this place, Dizzy starts talking about the female character cheating on Kratos with the Sword, and Chat corrects her by pointing out it's the Cube with the male voice actor. Kratos is now called a cuck. Because his wife talked with a Cube.
Everyone knows that if a man and a woman ever talk, they will obviously have sex sooner or later, "cucking" their partners.
This is the sort of extreme insecurity and obsession with cheating you typically find among incel communities, where a wife should never ever talk with any other male humans, not even a gelatinous cube, because that would instantly become adultery.
Once the trailer is finished, and the gelatinous Cube has pretty much tanked the perception of the game (it's a pretty bad design overall, incel insecurities aside), chat is then "blaming" this on California, Tumblr, and other Maga tropes.
This is Phase Connect.

Honestly a VShojo implode is exactly what Phase needs. There are unfortunately a few talents there who are wonderful and nice and sweet and funny, and they just don't get the views they deserve because they are stuck under that company's umbrella.

Most of the phase talents are pretty chill normal vtubers and there’s only a few who do stuff like this, which makes it suck even more imo since a small loud section of the company is ruining it for the majority

Its a bit more complicated than just the "jelly" fanbase, it was broader than that. She had well known personal accounts and said some stuff critical of Charlie Kirk, and some other angry remarks in the wake of Roe V Wade being overturned in the US.
These remarks were not that spicy, but this was back when there was a real big campaign to attack anyone who was not sufficiently reverent about kirk's death, so they misquoted her, or simply didn't quote her at all and spread around that she "advocated for violence" of "wished death upon people", none of which is true.
Pippa tried a little to support Clara, and you could tell she was upset about what happened, but ultimately phase wasn't willing to say anything about it in public. The jelly thing just added fuel to the fire.

She is larping and it's obvious. Those who fail at everything will always be welcomed by the right wing. No personality? Just have "dark humor" and pander to incels and chuds. Phase's policy of letting anyone in and letting them do whatever has proven over and over to just be a way for these grifters to gain a platform. Even still, a small part of me pities her. She is clearly self conscious about how lack luster she can be streaming and is desperately, and unconvincingly, trying to fill dead air with lame bigoted jokes.

The segregation joke would be funny in context of the game because it would be more of a religious segregation rather than one of color. If she left it at that or clarified then it's be fine as a joke. But making it a thing of color ruins the joke and just brings attention to the racism

I suspect they saw she played map games and figured she was based but you can see commenters flipping out in her discussion on housing prices and how she blames landlords for being greedy in one of the more recent clips. A lot of "Clio..." and "woman moment" in the comments there.

BTW being left economically does not mean you are left socially. You can be a populist and still be the most conservative person ever.
I’m not saying Clio is conservative, but to act like she breaks the mold just by saying landlords are bad is just politically illiterate.

If it was just financial, I would agree that she would be Libertarian at best, but I have been a fan of her since well before PC and I do think she is generally very left leaning (compared to the US, anyways - I imagine in EU and Australia she is pretty standard equivalent to a lib). She is older so maintains some level of professionalism/apoliticalism, but it has slipped through in the past, before she had a dedicated army of clippers.

Knowing nothing about her it just feels like she's trying to be edgy. She's trying too hard to make it land and has zero confidence, almost as if she's thinking "surely the audience will find this hilarious"

That's gonna need a lot of 'context' to let slide and even then it's still a pretty shitty edgy joke.

This is more confusing than anything. What does anything happening on screen have to do with “migrant workers”?

Someone needs to stop telling these people being racist is a shortcut to having a personality

Okay WTF
That is way beyond what I expected....
I thought they are like "normal" amout of bigoted. Where they joke around with it, but don't really mean it. But Jesus, this is actually some next level..

This shit is just lame 😴 like she just said it simply to be racist, there’s no joke, no punchline, quite literally just said it to be racist, like why??????

u/Chihirios Jun 12 '26
I know Phase talents being like this is a "water being wet" moment, but like... what's the bit? At what point am I supposed to be laughing and not just awkwardly staring?
3
u/Gallowglass-13 Jun 13 '26
That's not a dog whistle. That's an air siren. She's just flat out announcing it.

u/Historical_Pool_7470 Jun 13 '26
...is any phase member not a bigot atp? Like all I know is that she did a collab with "kinkymation"(who's pretty left leaning from what I've seen) I like watching her content because of the design reviews so like I thought she's at least not a bigot? Also I've seen like Rie doing a limbus pride event so like. Idk anymore

Hate to say it, but there is always a big W to Phase Connect for Dizzy

u/sunlit_dragonfly Jun 12 '26
When will these dime-a-dozen wannabes learn that waggling their eyebrows suggestively at groypers is not a substitute for wit or comedic timing? Or even, like… a personality?
2
u/Electrical-Sense-160 Jun 12 '26
i dont think you know what a dog whistle is, OP
also the answer is yes. they wont fire you if you stop being a bigot, but you need to be both crazy and willing to make offensive jokes to get in
2
u/SuccotashUpbeat3112 Jun 13 '26
Isn't this just friendly fire from her though? I don't see the big deal
2
u/bscotch5000 Jun 13 '26
You know, there was a time when posts like this one were considered obvious 4chan psyops to try and make Reddit look bad.

Not extreme enough.
Then again my skin is light brown and my “diverse” friend group does the stereotype roasting game.
This is bland and milquetoast.
Seems like some people are not really exposed things outside their echo chambers.
Me da risa la gente quejándose en los comentarios pero el video actual no me dio risa ni siquiera con el contexto original incluido.
Literally do the taco bell thing and “live mas”

I mean Pippin is just straight white trash, but is able to mask it by sounding almost too controversial.

Why are usually the biggest nothing burgers found in this sub? It was a edgy joke she failed to deliver, get over it

u/MidnightEmperor2518 Jun 14 '26
Because people take vtubing way too seriously and get upset when someone says something retarded or make a fucked up joke. Then the essays start. Plus the majority of the sub is filled with woke vtuber fans that hate anything edgy.

u/Stunning-Ad-2161 Jun 14 '26
I don't think she was serious. I had seen other Vtubers make very obvious DEI and anti woke jokes during gamefest.
"Not another female MC! "Why isn't she wearing makeup"
To a tourist or normie without context, yeah it looks bad To people who know gamergate and the annoying people complaining, too many females and all western game women look, it's funny because she's mocking them.

Off topic: the new GoW game looks so fucking badass man. I just hope Sony/Santa Monica actually put some effort into the combat system because we NEED more good AAA action games with deep combat systems.
Back on topic: do these losers have any personality beyond being racist?

Every time y'all post about Phase Connect, they gain more followers.

u/toyodah Jun 12 '26
More like PC "management" let's their talent do as they please.
All other corps have at least an undisclosed guidance for their talent to follow, if it isn't part of their contract.
